Well, timely as it seems, I am just midway through deadening my 80. I am using the roll material avialable at Lowes in the roofing isle. $35 bucks for a big -- about 10" tall roll. I am AMAZED how much it helps. I am adding one complete skin on the inner shell of the door skin and another layer to replace the plastic on the door under the panal.

Cheap and effective. The tech board says if you want even better protection, just use two layers of it.

Heat it up a little bit and see if it smells. I know some of the deadeners has asphalt in it and when it gets warm its a strong smell.

Interesting.... I want to put some under the hood of my 80, so I was starting to research what to use there. Heat would definately be an issue there.

I only know because I put some on the doors like you did on my king ranch f350. It had the saddle leather smell until i let it set for about 3 days in warm weather with out opening a door. Smelled like a fresh driveway. I took what I could off the doors and after a year or so the smell slowly went away.

That sucks..... That stuff is so sticky, don't know if I can get it off.

I hope not......

if it dont smell now it might be ok. Look on the package to see what it contains.

Usually when the truck smells Jenn blames me

I almost have the lexus back on the road long term. Most of the little fixes are done now, except rear speakers. The PO put huge ones in that limited the window from opening up all the way -- thus it banged the spearker :(

I have the anti-sway bar ready to sandblast and paint, and ordered all new bushings from Molle.

The only other thing is that on the highway at times there is a rattle. I am wondering if it is the hood making noise, so I am needing to find some sort of caulking to go between the inner and outer skin, and possibly some sort of sound deadner stuff that is heat resistant.

I ordered lenses from ARB... well actually, I emailed ARB to find them, and they are mailing them to me for FREE. Damn, customer service is not gone!!

I found the spring loaded detention pin for the rear bumper at McMaster Carr with Christo Slee's assistance, so that is going to be ordered.

Anyway, it has been fun having time to get out in the garage again.

Cheers!
