Some of you may have heard us talking about my 4Runner build

That is so sweet! Dont forget the mailbox.

Ya may have covered this in 2009 but are ya going to have the hood & fenders welded together and have the entire hood & Fender assembly raise forward for engine access? Or a regular hood opening?

Going to be sweet!

Nope, the fenders and grill will be one piece but the hood will be separate.

The fenders were welded to the hood for support so they could do the tube work. Once completed I bet they cut those welds and slick out the fenders and hood. (Did I guess right Fireman?) Devin is a pro!

You are correct sir! We will actually be using a new hood so we won't have to work the dents on this one.

Anyone know of any AFFORDABLE LEDs. Probably 6 inch combo bars and a 12" or so for the center?

Some of the guys on Pirate are buying these: http://www.hanma-auto.com/products

Josh Shearer has one from this company on his RZR. He likes it. http://www.totron.com/

330 power sports on Face Book is where he bought it.

Tolleson bought one recently from somebody. Hit him up and see where he bought his.

After trying to weld the thin ass Toyota sheet metal to the tube on the fenders with the MIG and then the TIG and neither one working worth a crap, we cut the crappy blown through metal out and made a filler to weld in.

Decided to not weld the new stuff in and just screw them on. OK, we just used them as cheap Kleckos.

The heavier metal from the piece we made welded to both the sheet metal and the tube MUCH better.

Ground the welds down and ready for a small amount of filler.

And back to where we were but the fenders fully welded!

Cool! time to go wheelin!

Other the other crap is just not needed.. Keep it simple!

I gotsta have my a/c and heat, and a system!

Don't wanna! I don't like how it looks.

Damn right!

Made a little progress today:
First we had to modify the tube roller with a SWAG Offoad kit to make it easier to roll the bars to match the profile of the hood:

Got the hood support bar in:

And the start of a grill. We will be adding some expanded metal mesh with the holes to it as well:

These are the lights we are using for headlights. They put out more light than my stock headlights on my 85. One spot and one flood on each side. We will be adding a 12" light bar above the winch. They are the Creeper mini pods from Sneevy's Offroad:

The winch will be moving up about 3/4" and a bumper with a hawse fairlead will be in it and the light bar just above that. We did notice after putting the grill in and centering it with the hood that it looked off. We measured and found that we have the body on a little out of square. Should be able to bring it back in line. Maybe we will have more time to work on it this Friday.

Got the mounts done for the lights from Sneevy's that we are using for the headlights:

Tacked in place:

And started the rest of the grill that will go around the lights.

Its real hard to see but the tube that goes around the lights has a bend in it where it comes back into the down tube on the grill since the hood support tube and the bottom of the grill are both arced. Its one of those things you have to look at in person to appreciate how big a pain in the ass it is.

It's a race! which one of our junk will make the SCC first!
Oh Hot Damn...I want in on this one.....race on...
rig.webp
