Its amazing how long bending all the pedals and linkages can take. Even more amazing is how much more Devin can get done when I go watch volleyball games.

Got the frame rails extended out front to get the winch mount and start on the stubby bumper!

Looking good sir!

Here's a technical question sir!, hopefully not too much for you and you can understand my question.

What's the measurement on the shock as it sits right now?

How much of the shock shaft is in? ....and how much is out?

Not compressed, not extended just as it is.

hopefully it makes sense... My shocks are fox 14" and they're 6" in and 8" out.

My 40 sits way hi compared to yours. I extended the shock towers to bring it down but I did not like it .. Front end came down some but not enough.

I am working on the rear 4 link and I went with spring coils, dont have the cash for air shocks but it'll be driveable on the streets.

It's being built with the intentions of staying with the 37's and later jump to 39's but the 39's are still far.

I should be done with the supension in a couple weeks, keep in mind my friend Charlie and I work on the 40 every Saturday, we 're getting there as far as the suspension.

We're going to have to go back and re-do the towers or rework the finished on them. We did not do a good job on them.:hillbilly:

That dang Devin it a talented dude! Lot's of quality work sitting around that shop!

We have 16" in the back and 14" in the front. The shocks are sitting about 2 1/2 to 3" from full compression when sitting on the bump stops. Ride hieght will be 3-5" higher. When flexed out right now with the compressed side on the bump stops there is a little under and inch of shaft showing. Hope this helps.

yeah.... but his helper sucks!

David you sound like a politician! :hillbilly:

let me see if I can decipher this! ....darn it! where's Kowboy when you need him?

so it's 2.5" to 3" and ride height will be 3"-5" higher,

so that's 2.5" +3"=5.5" of shaft out

or 3"+3"=6" of shaft out.

Hopefully that's what you meant if not that's what I understood!

it's your ride soft?

mine the front still a hard ride.

Hit him back on ride quality in 2014. Ha!

Got the new brake booster mounted up and had to check for clearance so we flexed it up again.

Brake booster and master cylinder cleared by 2 1/2" and the orbital cleared great as well.

Got to get the t case brake mount made up and then got it all mounted up. We had to machine some small spacers to mount to the rear output housing because the flange on it isn't machined flat. Just the mounting spaces for the bolt heads are. Kind of a pain but it worked out good. We will probably dress the mount up a little before we paint it all.

Got the front fenders roughed in today. The existing fender flares were cut way into to make room for the tires at full stuff but we needed to fill in some since we moved the front axle forward and there was no way to make the fender look good without fabbing up some patch panels.

Remains of fender before starting:

Trimmed up:

Formed a little:

Tacked in and stitch welded up:

Some shots of the other side bent up:

And the other side in place:

We still need to trim them up and do the radius as well as adding the tube work underneath for support but it's nice to get them this far in one long afternoon.

We got the driver side done today. I guess I pissed Devin off cause I came back in the shop and found him doing this:

The bastard done welded my hood shut!

We had a few hours this evening to work on it so we got after the fenders. Had to cut them up higher and get the clearance right at the rear. We then started adding some tube!

Then we cut the front of the fender and part of the hood and got the tube bend put in there:

Filled in the rest of the tube and smoothed the welds and this is what we ended up with:

We still need to weld the skin to the tube.

And this is the front view. Tube will come around the front edge of the hood and tie the fenders together and some sort of grill will get fabbed up!
