i'm working on an HJ60 rear end with a LSD in this thread, and i'll check the date next time i'm under the hood. i believe my FJ62 is a 4/88 build.

Nice work. Diffs and rebuilding a transmission are the two things I’ve never attempted yet. I have a few diffs needing attention including one like you’re doing. At some point I’m going to submerse myself into this topic and figure it out. Curious if you had to do any work to the LSD.

OK sorry missed that - no need. I have the same paint job I think these might have been 88 thru the end of production only. Sorry for the hijack.

I didn’t get into the LSD unit, everything looked good to my eye, no pitting or visible wear/damage on the gear teeth, pretty minimal wear in the bearings and races, so I left it intact.

Bumping this one back up as I put together another 9.5" 3rd this morning and had to cut .050" off another "Pre-90 Solid spacer" (Nitro Part #SKCSTLC-PRE90). I've done about fifty 9.5" thirds in the last three years or so and have used a solid spacer in every single one, I can 100% say that Nitro has their pre- and post- 1990 solid-spacer part numbers backwards.
I have made several attempts to let them know, nothing getting through of course
