Keep us updated! I wish I’d kept my Maroon 94 and done a simple 2 inch lift and 315 setup.. currently looking for a clean one. Nice 80 you’ve got man

Very nice truck, congrats. It is awsome if those cloth seats are indeed hiding under the port leather. I looked at an 80 with cloth and it was amazing. Too bad the truck was all rusted out.

If I would have posted to you earlier, I would have recommended not going with 315s with a 2.5" lift. I am rocking that compo and added a body lift to alleviate rubbing in rear at full stuff. Now after owning the truck for several years, I would prefer no BL and 255 tires to keep the revs up. Too mad my tires have so much life left in them.

Very nice Will!!! Congrats!!!!

Thanks! I hope to have some updates soon!

Small update. I finally got the truck back from my mechanic. They installed new tires and the lift, swapped in a new starter, rebuilt the axle seals, and changed the fluids for the diff, transmission, and brakes.

I'm a little disappointed, I asked them to change the oil and flush the power steering fluid while they had it, but they still hadn't finished it when I came to pick it up. No worries, I'll just do it myself.

I'm just happy to have the truck back! Took it out to the lake and put it through it's paces. Climbed a really steep trail that my 4WD Tacoma can't make it up. Performed flawlessly. Just engage the CDL and the lockers, and let it crawl. No drama.

Really excited to have the truck back. I should have some 'wheelin video shortly.

Unfortunately on the way home the Check Engine light came on. It's also idling a little rough. I have a sneaking suspicion that it's the O2 sensors, but I'm going to pull codes in the morning and report back.

Also, do any vendors upgrade the dash lights to LEDs? A few of the bulbs on my speedo are burned out, and the "D" and "L" indicators don't illuminate when the transmission is engaged in drive or low. I figured I might as well upgrade to LEDs if I'm going to pull the dash and change the bulbs.

Looks great! Keeping the running boards, eh?

The drive light is in a touchy case on the backside of the gauge assembly. Getting back there isn't that bad, the FSM walks you through it. I disabled my ABS light after I deleted it, and it's the same job, but you have to go into that box, which takes a little bit of a soft touch.

You could wait on doing anything about the CEL until you get the new exhaust on. ODI is as dumb as an ox. That motor is too stupid to die. Both O2 sensors are before the cats. There is a kit to replace both. I would plan on that. It keeps the computer happy. Has yours had the upgrade to the '94 ECU done yet?

My father has a hard time getting in and out of the truck, so yes, I'm keeping the running boards. I'll probably do the BIO step sliders at some point.

Great intel on the dash lights. I'm probably going to disable my ABS light too, because of the part-time kit.

What is the '94 ECU upgrade?

Good call on the running boards. My dad has a little trouble getting into mine too.

The ECU in the '93 was prone to failure. I think there was a recall on them and yours may have been swapped out already but if not, the fix is installing an ECU from a '94.

The pioneer speaker mod is an easy and worthwhile one. I ended up using a Pioneer deck (single DIN with pocket below) and under the seat subwoofer and the whole system was less than $500. I wouldn't say this particular subwoofer is the best if you want a lot of bass, but rather it does a good job of filling in on the lower frequency where the little speakers fall off (also it was easy to install). A modern deck is a huge plus since it works with your phone, bluetooth, pandora, spotify, etc...

Deck
Subwoofer
Harness Adapter
Rear Speakers
Front Speakers

Dig into the stereo threads a bit for more detail but overall the install was easy. If you plan to install a CDL switch do it at the same time since the dash will be apart. Also if you plan to install a sub do it at the same time to avoid tearing everything back apart again (like I did). Also note that the front speakers on the bottom of the dash are worthless and should be disconnected. The same goes for the top speakers in the very back. These share a signal from the door speakers and will sap power from your newly installed speakers and turn it into distortion. Also disconnect the factory amp since it will not be needed.

I'm curious what amp you got to fit under the seat?

And holy crap, I don't think I unplugged my rear speakers when I updated my deck and doors.... I"ll have to double check!

PS - I dynamated (generic brand) my front doors, WELL worth the effort. Makes a HUGE difference especially with the mids.

It was a subwoofer/amp combo that fits under the seat. Not the most impressive bass but it does a good job filling in the lower frequencies where the smaller speakers fall off.

Oh, got it, thanks!

I got a similar powered 8" Rokcford sub for the rear quarter panel, but I've been debating putting an amp under the seat for the fronts.

Cruiser is looking sharp! Not big on the graphic since it says 4wd already on the stock badge, keep the clean look!

Yeah, I actually shaved the OEM “Full Time 4WD” badge. I’m not crazy with how the paint looks underneath. I think the graphic I added looks awesome, but I may go back to stock, just to cover the light spot.
