Anyone planning a trip to the totality path this year?

I'm heading to Texas . . . most likely will be the last total eclipse I will ever see

Where & When

The Monday, April 8, 2024, total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada.

Headed to Austin for that weekend, probably going to Fredericksburg to watch. We're hoping for clear skies!

I plan on driving to TX and sleeping in the back of the cruiser. I’ll find a truck stop or similar. I’ll leave Sunday and return on Tuesday. I don’t have a location picked out, just somewhere in the totality.

There is next to no public land for dispersed camping in TX, pretty shocking and a reminder of what we have here.

Day 1 - home to Mescal 100.5 miles, 780 miles left to Uvalde

Rumor is they're going to re-run this eclipse during the summer.

Day 2 - Mescal to Marfa 493.4 miles, 593.9 total, 291 miles to Uvalde

I’ll be leaving Tucson tomorrow around 4am. Junction TX will be my overnight.

Day 3 Marfa Lights viewing area to Uvalde 902.4 miles. All day Sunday to rest up.

Morning in Uvalde - 100% humidity

Sun came out a few hours before the eclipse - then clouded back over

Field at totality - everyone was looking up hoping for a break in the clouds

Clouds broke a little during the un-eclipsing for a few minutes at a time

1829.5 miles, almost 30 hours of driving for 4 minutes sitting in a semi-dark field wondering where the eclipse went. Could've been worse tho - Uvalde could have had clear skies and I stayed home

New 230AH LifePO4 battery worked great - used 35% capacity running the Engel fridge & charging cell phone, laptop, & tablet from Thursday through Wednesday.
