right now with all the snow drifts and melting snow.. if im going to be outside i wear regular old cottons and then heavy wool overtop and then goretex kneehigh oversocks by "mustang survival" then regular boots over that.. completely waterproof and breathable.. they rock, awesome for when conditions change.. from frozen to wet or wet to frozen over a long period of time when outside... most surplus stores carry them, NSN 8415-21-905-7536.

I'm the same way. Synthetic sock liners are a sure blister for me. I generally use the smart wool. Bought thick padded ones at REI in Anchorage in the 90's and they were the best. Haven't been able to find anything similar since.

Poly sucks and as long that I was trying it, I was having blisters. What about the Dupont *max fibers?

Ok, I too am a sock freak. I can get blisters that pad my whole foot.
Liners, I upgraded to the patagonia capilene and also picked up a pair of Ultimax liners, they are great and even have a little compression. Yes they are worth the extra five bucks.

I have smart wool everything. Dress, hiking, workout. Not yet tried their liners, although I here they do very well.
If you guys want to buy pm me with size, sock and color. I got sick of paying retial so i created a little LLC to buy my outdoor gear and I sell it to friends at cost plus 10%. You save about 3-7.00 per pair. But you need to order a minimum of twelve pairs, unless we can get others to help. THey have minimum orders.

I have recently tried out the Ingenious Line by wigwam, It is a liner built in to a wool sock and so far I think they do very well. I have used the liner socks with them out of paranoia on heavy workout days. (5+ miles) My feet come out very dry.
