Can't really seem to find a soild answer so I figured Id post up.

The sixty is soa'd on stock leafs and has a d60/14 bolt under it. The front is shackle reversed and I'm running 40" km2's.

I've been doing a lot more camping and therefore wheeling with more gear lately so my rear leafs are getting tired and I'm looking for spring options. Thing is, right now the truck is sitting at the perfect height and I don't really want to go any higher. I know that any new spring will be taller until they're broken in and I can always take a leaf or two out....

Question is if you were to swap springs (rears) what would you use? Another set of stockers? Ome/ironman low lifts w leaves removed? I have a set of stock leafs in the garage but wanted to get second opinions before I steal them from my project fourty and throw them on. I was really hoping that ome would have a stock height spring for the sixty but all i see is 2.5"... I know they do a stock height lift for the eighties but that obviously doesn't apply..

Id also like to stay away from custom springs like alcans and deavers and stick to something more common.

Any advice is appreciated, pictures can be added if need be.

We've talked about the Chevy 3/4 Ton 63 inch springs before. Have you considered those? I've been very happy with that set up. THe height would be about right, and they ride softer and carry significantly more weight. Win, win, win.

Airbag it.

Modify the U-bolt plates to accommodate a shackle, which attaches to the bottom of the airbag (might be able to to it to the top too). Inflate the airbags to adjust for the extra weight. When articulating on the trail, the shackle opens up and allows thing to keep flexing instead of tearing the airbags.

Just MHO

Yeah, I just got rid of all of my 63" spring swap stuff lol. Traded it for a tube bender... No room in the garage to mess with the sixty much thats why Im looking for a bolt in for now.

Donno about air bags... Have a picture of the shackle set up?

cheap solution work with the pack of stockers you have ..

expensive level 1 ---> air bags

expensive level 2 ---> progresive coils

expensive level 3 ---> coilovers .. :D

I'm still wrapping my head around it. Thinking about a couple of different ways to go. I haven't done this yet, but will eventually.

I thought that OME made a set of 'stock' height springs? What shackles do you have? Could you put in new springs, and shorten shackles an inch?
I like the idea of airbags, probably not much of a price difference from new leaf springs.

I'm gonna look into the ome stock height and try to figure out if they exist. May give dude that sells ironman stuff a call too. I really wish I would have kept the 63's and the ruff stuff kit but the bender was too tempting an offer at the time.

Ill post up what I end up doing, maybe just collect all the 63 stuff again lol. Winters coming so the van will be hibernating.

Thanks guys.

cheap way

i just go get some new centering pins and add another main leaf or meduim. i tell ya, my truck rides pretty nice and im not nice to it. cheers!

and find a bj74 set of springs and add another main leaf right away to the spring pack before install. the bj 74 springs are my secret. better shackle angle front and rear. you can use a 60 series add a leaf. they are the same width.

Found that ome does make a "stock height" set of springs for a sixty. 1" over stock and able to handle more load is what they say. Might just give those a shot.

FYI FJ62 springs are dimensionally the same as 60 springs, they just have more leafs in the pack.

I would find some 62 springs or find some used 60 springs and add a couple of the leafs to your pack.

We also built a set of custom Tacoma springs from 2 sets of OME leafs. Triple #2 leafs with a upside down overload leaf on the bottom and a right side up overload leaf to top it all off.

He was expoing through Africa and had some serious payload.

I have fj62 rears in the rear of my SOA fj40. I don't think they are significantly more heavy duty than fj60 springs. They are very flexible.

FJ62 springs have 1 more leaf in the pack, but each leaf is slightly thinner. The total pack is the same thickness. They are said to flex better and are rated for the same amount of weight. Supposedly they are more resistant to sagging, but I have no data to back that up.

My 40 is running 62 rears as well, with an extra long leaf added to the pack.

My SOA 40 is running FJ62 rears with the 2nd from longest and the 2nd from shortest removed. It is relatively light in the rear.

So I called arb usa yesterday. I saw a stock height leaf set advertized on the manafre site but nowhere else. My arb guy up here had never heard of em so the call to arb was necessary.

According to the guy I spoke to the part numbers for the lowest lift spring for an fj60 app is cs004rb. cs004ra has a bit more lift (he said to use an ra and rb to correct any lean). Was told I may need to remove a leaf but that's fine with me.

So a set of rb's are on the way.

To answer a previous question, I'm running anti inversion shackles that are a tad longer than stock but not much.

Ill post up the results if I get the springs in anytime soon lol.

When you get these, can you please post a pic of them?
How much did the set cost (if you don't mind me asking)?

Sure thing. They had one leaf in stock but the other is coming from cali so about a week and a half to my door, I hope lol.

My springs were sacked out too, now have Chevy Tahoe springs which is a 55'' long spring with 4 leafs and 1 thick overloud 5 leafs total, 2'' shackle lift and im now 2'' higher then stock hight. springs will hold lots of weight and have way more flex.....PS got the springs from auto wrecker for $75.00.
