OK, it's going to be an El Nino year and I have not been boarding for the last three years since I bought my Cruiser. I have Yakima snowboard racks that I have never used and my Dad found me some chains for $10 at the Salvation Army last year.....

I have to go this year so if any of you are planning a trip post it up here so I can crash it!
I am kind of a snow snob and prefer Mammoth but I could be persuaded to hit up Snow Summit on a weekday after it dumped some real powder.

It's expensive, it would cut into your mod budget. Stay away.... :p

Gotta agree there. Used to do a one week ski trip every year. Haven't in at least 5-10 years because of the expense!

Snowboarding...actually took two days of lessons one year at Northstar. Everyone said give it at least two days before passing judgement. Got up to the easy intermediate slopes by the end of day two. Wife never got off the bunny slopes.

Went right back to skiing. I can go anywhere on any mountain, including double black diamond runs on my skis. Why start over on a board. Haven't regretted that decision and I haven't been on a board since then. Love my skis. To each his own. I know plenty of folks that have switched to shredding and have never looked back at their skiis too and love it.

Only ski trip I have planned is with my old scout troop at the end of January. Retired from scouts, but will still go on an occasional trip and the ski trip is one of them even if it's just to Snow Valley. That ant hill isn't very challenging, but it's a day of skiing!!! :bounce:

Yeah I used to skii from 5-7 but broke my leg on my 7th B-day and we never went again as a family. Finally around 20 I went back up and decided to board since I was going to have to learn all over again. My buddy just took me up the lift without even practicing and said sink or swim. The entire day I ate it getting off of the lift but my third time down I made it down the bunny slope without falling until the end when I tried to stop. So I picked it up pretty quickly and went 2-3 times a year for 6 years. But now it's been 3 years and I have to get back out.

snow snob?
yeah, you better stay at Mammoth then.

Knuckle dragging grommets are accepted up there better anyway.
no really... go ahead and drive 10 extra hours for snow, we don't mind.

throw the stick in the rig, drive up a road, hike an hour and earn your turns. Will be the best day of snow in your life, I guarantee it. Look for Bear Camp, just east of Gorman. you can do this kind of stuff for free.
