Here's a pic of my 89 w/22RE and the snorkel I made for it. All out of PVC and lawn drain and cost all of $15. Inlet is turntable so it won't get snagged on branches etc. Connects into the stock filter inlet, then into the fender well, inside the well and out the fender. Hardest part was holding my breath when I cut the hole in the fender. Added a couple of stand-offs to hold it in place and some costly WalMart spray paint.

Not your "first class" variety but it gets the job done. I got most of the info here on MUD.

Did a search, and found the thread that I worked from. I didn't go in the side of the air filter box, I removed the stock inlet behind the headlight and came out of that hole with a 90 deg. PVC. Then into the fender well. The rest was somewhat the same as this thread.

I went into the A piller for ease and convenience, the windshield was too hard to drill on...;)

Have fun.

I built mine from 3" exhaust ppipe. and the flange on the carb is made from 4" exhaust.
I still need to improve the design on the carburator end, but ut works good.

Built my own on my '85 from an idea I got from Johnny Lange old '83 minitruck. I went through the hood rather than through the fender. Picked up some high-temp hose and used black ABS pipe up the A-pillar with an ARB inlet. Worked well.

Oddly enough I don't have any shots with the hood open. I built and sold that truck about 4 years ago. I'll try to describe as best I can what I did with it.

At the hood I used a PVC coupling. That gave me about 1.5" on either side of the hood to attach hose with hose clamps. You can see how it was on the outside of the hood, and on the inside of the hood I used a long enough section of hose that ran from the coupling to a stock air cleaner intake just behind the headlight. This hose had a fair amount of slack in it so I could get the hood open. Where it connected to the air cleaner housing I would tighten the hose clamp enough to seal it and keep water out, but with a little wiggling I could disconnect it easily if I needed to with the hood open.

When I first got the truck it had a Weber carb on it and I considered using a plenum connected from the carb to the snorkel with some kind of inline air filter, but I couldn't find the appropriate plenum and an air filter setup that I was comfortable with so I switched to a factory carb.

After I sold it, the guy that bought it had a new motor built by LC Engineering with their stand alone EFI setup. He still had the snorkel on the truck but I don't know if he still had the snorkel hooked up or not.
