If you can fit, you can drive it!

You know you have too much work when someone else beats you to your own update. Oh well, millions on welfare depend on me....

Getting closer

More progress made last weekend. Finally seeing something resembling a truck - and getting a little closer to completion. With the help of a few neighbors - bribed by beer and BBQ- we got the bed , windshield, and a few more trim pieces on.

Dallas- we are going to try and salvage the existing rear window rubber gaskets- we have complete sets and may be able to use some glazing rubber to resurface the cracks. It's a long shot- but well worth the effort. If that does not work- trip to the glass shop for some solid pieces will be next.

Thanks for all of the compliments- Its been a fun project and good learning experience.

Pat, wish it was mine- even though I could never drive it comfortably at 6'2" - its a tight fit in the cab. It belongs to a coworker and fellow mudder who conned me into "Helping" restore it at my place cause he lived in a closet at the beach. He gets all the credit for the grunt work- I allowed him to have that pleasure:D.

I still have two 55's that I own that are patiently waiting for some love;).

update

Since the truck is still in my care for a few more months while becker gets situated on the left coast- I decided to take it out of mothballs - blow the cob webs out of it -and make sure the fluids were not going bad. The truck also had a couple of things that needed to be done and were put on hold so I decided it was time to give it some more love.

Replaced a leaky intake\exhaust gasket - checked the timing, and made a few adjustments - soooooo I just had to road test my work - right. ;)

Drove it a few miles up to a BDay party for one of my neices ............. who thought it would have made a nice present for turning 16. :D.
