Snapped spider gear pin

Hi,

I got slightly hung up on a soft sand mound and soon afterwards, experienced a sharp jerk similar to slamming the Gear Lever into Park while moving. This continued at short intervals and finally I lost rear wheel drive. Back at the shop they opened up the rear diff and saw the spider gear pin sheared. Can anyone advize on how to avoid this from happening again after I get it repaired.

i have seen many a pinion let go before the ujoints. usually the pinion was not set to proper tolerances i.e. too much back lash...

it looks like you may have a light spring pack

If you do its likely that your getting spring wrap under load.
