I bought my second Toyota project , an '85 4Runner. Motor has about 128k starts right up and doesn't smoke until you hit the gas, then it smokes bad. If it idles for about 15 minutes it wont smoke but starts to idle rough. Doesn't seem to effect peformance a whole lot though. It did sit for about 4 year without running(bad fuel pump). Whats going on? anything helps. Thanks. I'll get picks up soon.

What color smoke? Black (excess fuel), blue (oil), or white (coolent).

Yea forgot to say it is greyish blue. Guess its oil? I change it regularly. Maybe seals or something? Could it be build up from sitting?

Valve guides/seals? Do a compression test.

Might wanna try a new PCV valve (get a new grommet too).

Rather than a compression test, I would try to do a leakdown test. Take a look at the plugs too.
