I have a question regarding your tundra wheels.. I'm working on my '99 cruiser, and have some 18" wheels off of a 2007 Tundra. When I mount them up, the center caps don't fit over the hubs. Did you use the tundra center caps? or use spacers? I saw in another thread where someone used 1.5" spacers to get his to fit - I would rather just get different center caps if that is an option. I like that bumper, its the same one I have sitting in my shop waiting for its turn to be installed.. lol

Thanks.

My truck came with the OEM 16" wheels. When I switched to the 18 Tundra wheels, I just kept my old 16" center caps. They aren't a perfect fit, but close enough they stay on.

The rear caps from the Tundra wheels fit, but not the front ones. They don't clear the hub. You can either run spacers, or drill out the center of the Tundra cap so that it clears. There is a thread on the main 100 forum where someone did that. If you can find OEM 16' caps, they obviously work. I do have some spacers in my garage that are waiting to go on, but they aren't 1.5" I think they are 3/8"

Best of luck in your build. You are welcome to check mine out anytime you want. Let me know if you have any other questions. If I can't answer them, someone on here certainly can. Lots of much more knowledgable folks in CLC than I.

Thank you for the reply. I have the centers from the original 16" wheels - ill give them a go. Let me know if those spacers work - I don't really want to run a big spacer (>1") if I can help it. Ha. Ive read through some of the posts on the main forum and was curious how you got yours to work. Not sure I am good enough to drill them and it look ok...lol

I will let you know about the spacers. I got them from a member here. They are made of aluminum. They were 105 shipped for 4.

I didn't want to try drilling the center caps either. If I were to attempt it, I would use a dremel. I like the OEM ones better anyway.

Yaaah. The original ones stick I there pretty well. Thanks. I'm gonna run with that for a bit. I'm a ways off from driving it anyways.

Thanks again

wheel spacers

It's been a while since I have posted any updates. Several months ago, I bought some wheel spacers. They are aluminum and are .375" thick and are slide on spacers. I was able to use my existing studs which is what I wanted to be able to do.

Here is the thread for them.

I finally got around to installing them. The pics don't really show the difference but you can tell in person. Here are the before pics.

water leak continued.....

My interior has been out for about 16 months while I slowly chased down a water leak in the rear cargo area. I thought it was the high mounted brake light. I tried to buy some 3M stuff to reseal the old light. It didn't work and was a huge pain to get off. Took me quite a while to unfxxx that one.

If you have a leak in the rear cargo, just buy the new light. I ended up doing that and it fixed the leak. The light cost 184 with a discount and free shipping. It's expensive but if I had to do it over again....I would DEFINITELY go that route.

installing more sound deadening material

Once I got the leak fixed, it was time to begin attempting to reinstall the interior. I wasn't sure I was going to be able to remember how it went back together.

I have been unhappy with the bass in this truck ever since I installed the new head unit and new door speakers. In the future I would like to install a sub in the factory location. I decided that since I already had the interior mostly out, that it would be a good idea to run the speaker wire back to the location so I wouldn't have to tear the interior apart again.

I installed more of the Ratmat Rattle trap sound deadening material since I had some left over.

speaker wire run...

I bought some speaker wire off of Ebay. it made by StreetWires. I bought 25' of the 12 AWG twisted cable. You don't need 25' to run back to the factory location, but I couldn't buy anything else and wanted to make sure I had enough.

My plan is to run a mono amp (likely a JL Audio XD300/1) in the factory location. There is plenty of room as this is a very small amp. It will power a single 8" JL Audio 8W3V3 also in the factory location. I have seen someone make a box out of the existing sub box. We will see about that in the future. In the meantime, I just wanted to run the speaker wire and get my truck back together.

Once I ran all the speaker wire, I began putting it all back together. Only ended up with a couple of extra pieces!! ha I must say that the interior is much quieter now that all the interior is back in.

Can't say that I would tear it all apart to put down the Fatmat, but since i was already in there for something else...

You have been busy! Nice work!

Thanks. I have been busy. Been putting it off for way too long. Got to check a few things off the list!

Where's the pic of extra pieces. Post it so we calm tell you how vital they are. I'm impressed with the guys who do serious detail work, either y'all got lots o free time or aren't lazy like me.

Mostly just a few extra clips and a bolt or two. I figured that's just how it goes. I broke a couple of clips and will be ordering new ones when I make the order for the wheel bearings and new CV axles.

I didn't do all the detail work just cause. I did it because I was already in there and it really didn't take that much more time.

I don't have any kids so I do have a lot of free time....I just choose not to spend it on my truck very often!
