You need a three speed bell housing, the SM 420 bolts to it.

I have an early AA style adapter for the 420 to Toyota transfer case if you are looking for it?

Ok terrific, have to check my bellhousing in my 1968 40, it has a 4 speed so it must be the wrong housing. In any case I had this set up in my trail rig many years ago and I loved it, but I forgot what I did.
