Followed by proof testing this weekend at Royal Blue?

Thats the plan!

Im only gonna be there on Saturday, so Im going to have to get an accelerated testing schedule in place!

BTW, I just got back from my first trip to Aetna...in the dark and raining to help out Brian (fj60-Covent College), who in his infinite wisdom had decided to go wheeling this afternoon with a couple of buddies in one truck...Doh!

I had to throw the hard top and doors on and just got back ~30 mins ago...what fun it was :D

Re: the Welder, I just need something to do sheetmetal...hopefully with gas

Are we talking about Clutchee getting stuck?

Later,

Steve - where did you get the raw steel for you sliders and bumper? Your truck is coming right along!

I also believe we should have a "fab" day at Steve's so he can make sliders for all of us!!!!

Thanks...they worked perfectly this weekend. Used both sides...Got it from a place right across the street from my sub division...small steel erection (hehe, I said erection) company...Im traded my photography services for it.

Later,

Not this time Jeff...that was the New Year's day run. He gave me the one finger salute and then I was still nice enough to winch him off that rock:flipoff2:

Sliders in use...while exercising the DS, I bent my freakin tie rod. If you look close in the middle pic, you can see the bend. Talked to Hudlow's...they can straighten it for about $10...

i really like those guys, seem to know their stuff and won't sell you any bs. they have used parts that they stand behind. about a week before the trip, i found my bronco driveshaft totally fawked. the u-joint near the rear dif had flats, the slip yoke was frozen and the transfer case side hadn't been greased in years. they sold me a used one for $125. i took it home and found the upper u-joint a little messed up and they put a new joint in it free. plus installed with new hardware, greased, welded the spider gears on my rear, filled with dope and reinstalled cover for $80. the owner has an FJ45 white like TPI bob's in the back. i asked if for sale and of course...NO!

More pics of the bumper...steady as she goes...

Lookin' good Steve!

LIFTED!!!

Finally got the OME J's on the front and the heavies on the rear with ProComp 9000 shocks with eye mount adapters on the cruiser a couple weekends ago. What a huge difference!!! Im guessing I gained atleast 4-5 inches all the way around. My old springs reminded me of my grandmother...saggy...and the shocks were original. Also took the front sway bar off. Need to extend the front brake lines, extend the diff breather tubes and lower the rear swaybar, but Im getting there.

Absolutely no driveline vibes, but its squirly as hell. Partly because of the not completely straight drag link bar (from Royal Blue) and the incorrect camber. Plenty of body roll too...but Im getting used to that. After all, its a 6000lb cruiser and not a Corvette.

Muy bien!!

Looks good Steve! Will it still fit in the garage?

Yep...with room to spare.

I have dented every side of the rig now. DS front door got tweaked to where it catches the front fender everytime the body flexes a little bit...have to pull the fender out to make it fit...really fun when it catches and Im in it...have to climb out the PS. LOL.

Both sides have been dented in by protruding objects during deep rut navigation. Actually have dents in my rockers ABOVE my sliders...Im still scratching my head on that one...only thing I can figure is I was so off camber the sliders were more off the side than underneath. Both tail lights have been taken out. Chris will appreciate this...there is now an abundance of "red tape" on the ass end. I have replacement lights on order, but wont be putting them on until I add QP protection.

Need to find someone to help me bend tube to create rear QP protection...

It is definitely a tried and true TRAIL RIG now...

Not until you have done Tellico. The GSMTR still have space available.

Roger, can you please send me the link / info for GSMTR. Mentioned it to Brandon (Explorer) and another buddy in a Jeep (I just keep him around for his winch:grinpimp:). Seriously considering making it as I just found out I wont have the kids that weekend.

Cant make it for the week, but might be able to make it for the last Friday and Saturday...

This is a TLCA sanctioned event, so all participants must be TLCA members, Which means they must own a Toyota 4X4 vehicle, if it is their daily driver and they wheel a vehicle of lesser quality they can bring it. If you only come for the ride on Saturday you do not need to register. If you want to register ,e-mail me and I will send you a form, which includes the option to join TLCA.
