Sliders: Anyone here fabricate their own?

If they found a way to mount 3 on the driver side I'd love to see a picture, because I sure as hell couldn't figure it out. (doesn't mean much though)
Just looked at Slee's sliders for AHC and they only have two mounts on each side. The longest length in their description is 81"?? Seems a bit long. I'm really trying to cut my fab time down as I have a whole slew of projects in progress already, but there is the 80" MC option.

Metaltech also only two mounting points as well. No dimensions on their page though...

If interested in 2x6 sliders, they offer custom length...

Yeah with the AHC and 2 mount points I think they will provide plenty of rock protection (if you aren't slamming on the middle) but I don't think you will be able to jack the truck off of them unless you gusset them to hell.

I can pull some dimensions off my mount locations and arm lengths if that helps. for length I think 71" is ideal for that main slider under the body seam.

Easiest way to save fab time is trailer gear sliders, or those MC ones (those look slick) the XOfab ones looks pretty cool too

Oh snap, those are sick and that price is greaaaaat! Emailing them about 71" shortly... doesn't say if they're HREW or DOM though. Would prefer the latter...

Yeah, thanks that'd be great. Whenever you can, no rush!

My front mount is just behind the body mount. Leg is 2x2 square tubing and is 10.75" long, then it was cut at 80° to match the angle of the frame up front. I have s***ty tools though someone else could probably get a more precise angle, but 80° worked for me.

Rear mount is just behind body mount and is 6.875" long. It has to go under a brake line there so I added some rubber hose to prevent rubbing.

Mount is 7 13/16" by 2.75" and 1/4" thick. The 7 13/16" height puts it pretty close to the body pan up front, but it's still pretty tight to allow room for the 1/2" bolts. I need to do a little grinding to get some clearance there. If you went with 3/8" or 7/16" bolts you could get some more room, but you probably want the strength.

Passenger side mounts are the same lengths, and nearly the same locations. Front location is the same, rear location is maybe ever so slightly forward. It's tough getting the bolt in because of a heat shield up top. I had to bend it down to make it work. The middle leg can go just in front of the rear body mount on the passenger side. I didn't add that one because I was in a bit of a rush, and the first try didn't fit right so I gave up. I have 2 mounts on each side.

Gussets are 1/4" , I got a little to quick and warped my mounts a bit welding them in. :bang:

Those leg lengths put the main rail just outside the body seam, maybe a 3/16" outboard of it. Then my outriggers are 1 7/8" pipe.

As for how low to mount the legs to the frame mounts....I kind of eyeballed it and basically put them as close as I could to the bolt heads and still be able to turn them. They are just under an inch above the bottom of the frame mounts, maybe 15/16" from the lower edge and that gave me about 1/4" of clearance off the rocker panels

Their craftsmanship is impeccable... their rear bumpers are exactly what I’m looking for (down the line).

I don’t know if they’re keen on making stuff for the 100 series, but I love that they maintain the curvature in their design. It’s a lot of extra work (so +$$ I’m sure) but I haven’t been digging the angular aesthetic of most of the bumpers on the market.

Did you ever contact them about 71" sliders? Just curious as those look fantastic.

Right? Dat taper doe.

Contacted Bash in Jan about 71" and 73" L and they were willing to do them at no extra charge.

But er, I wasn't quite ready to purchase at the time, so when I contacted them again to order two pairs - with steel prices going up, they decided to discontinue selling them. He was going to give me the plates (for $8/ea x 6) and the end cap guides to fabricate them on my own.
I was pretty persistent and said I'd be willing to pay for the increase in steel & asked for DOM rectangular tubing instead of HREW. Waiting to hear back - sent him the email on Weds.

If they're not down, I'll most likely fabricate them myself. I want 3 mounting points on each side and my ideal width of the step is 2" x 7.5" x .188" with 73" L for full coverage.

It'd be a tragedy if they stopped selling them. Even if they have to increase prices to match rising steel prices it'd be worth it.

I agree. They’d be able to sell a bunch to LC owners - word circulates swiftly between forums and FB groups.

Perhaps a group buy would incentivize them to continue producing them. Min order - 20 units?

Their craftsmanship is second to none, but they need to offer DOM tubing as an option. That would keep their base price low (WKOR base is at $660)... HREW for the mall crawlers.

I’m anticipating the worst (that they’ll say no). This design would actually be much easier to fabricate than tubular sliders bc you wouldn’t need to bend the tubing.

Rectangular tubing with the ends lopped off at an angle and two pieces of sheet on each end. Getting the mounting points fitted properly is the hardest part of course... but that’s what we’re signing up for getting the kit so...

Either way, if you’re really interested maybe shoot Bash a text as well and let him know you’re looking for 73”.

@thebeedeegee - Referencing your notes and wanted to know what the measurements numbered below are.

And then if I can bother you about the measure of the endpoints to square legs on both sides/ends as well?

Most likely going with Trail Gear (78") or Marlin Crawlers (80"). Just not sure how I'm going to cut down the ends just yet...

I just went out and threw a tape measure on it to confirm

1. is about 3.875"
2. is about 7.75"
3. What is this measurement? If you mean pipe to the end of the square tube it's maybe 3/16"
4. 19.375" passenger side , 19.625" driver side

EDIT, oh yeah my bolt holes were 9/16" (0.562")

Thanks! And #4 are the rear measurements correct? (square tube edge to square mounting leg)

Yeah, I'll have to look at it again, I know there was a mount in the way on the passenger side I was trying to work around. Then there was the AHC stuff on the driver side

Cool thanks again.

This is the Trail Gear 78". Ideal length is 73" so give or take 2.5" off from each end. Will most likely buy pre-bent tubing to close off that taper and cut the ends at an angle.
These are .120" vs .188", but they are DOM - which I think is necessary for the wall thickness of the steel and round tube used throughout (as opposed to square/rectangle + round combo).

Have built them in the past but for t lazy side of me I went WKOR. I would suggest going 3+ legs if possible like the WKOR. I did the DOM out riggers and have still managed to put a dent into them. I guess it boils down to how hard you plan to wheel you rig. Looking forward to seeing your design

I have the White Knuckle sliders as well but mine are the 2 leg AHC version. Hung off them a few times, no issues or permanent deflection. But I agree, go with 3 legs per side if you’re DIY’ing.
