I know its not tech but please leave it for a day or so...

Some great reasons for 100s to attend the 2012 Summit...Our incredible list of vendors keeps growing and includes Slee Offroad, Proffitts Cruisers Metal Tech, Ironman Offroad, and TRDParts4u among others. Right now the majority of attendees have FJ Cruisers, we need the 100s to represent!

After one month we have over 150 vehicles registered and cut off will probably happen at about 225. If you are on the fence, its time to get off and register.

The Summit has one of the biggest and best raffles you will find at any event with the grand prize being a TRD Supercharger!

Check out the website for more info, FJSummit 2012 National Meet

You can also see Woody's pics from last years event here, FJ Summit - Ouray CO - IH8MUD Photo Gallery

See Ya in Ouray!

Looks like the Best Western is booked for those dates. If you're attending the Summit with your 100 and your better half, let me suggest the Chipeta Sun Lodge. Chipeta Solar Springs Resort & Spa | Ridgway Colorado Resort & Spa | Ouray Hotel | Ridgway Lodge | Telluride Hotel You'll be glad you did. My wife and I have stayed there a few times, right up the road from Ouray. Your wife may even want to stay for the spa while you wheel, or vise versa. That area is maybe the prettiest place on Earth.

And to keep this 100 specific, most, if not all of those trails can be run in a stock 100.

Everything but Poughkeepsie Gulch can be driven in a stock 100. For Pou, I would recommend sliders and good tires at a minimum (although we had trucks without one or the other of those but you are asking for damage). The Wall changes every year so it may be easy one year and incredibly difficult the next. The road is composed of sharp scree rock so stockish type tires may get trashed.

For every other trail listed as moderate/difficult, I'd say loose the running boards and you will be good to go.

The Sun Lodge is indeed a great place to stay. While in Ridgeway check out the Adobe Inn for the best margaritas around (I recommend the Casadores) and flower chips that will melt in your mouth.

I plan to make a trip out west from GA next Summer for some off road/overland fun with my oldest son. I've already started planning, and something like this would be perfect to throw in the middle of a 10-day adventure. Looks like a blast.

Keep checking back with the BW, I'm not sure they are even open yet for the season and rooms may open up. Right next door is the Box Canyon, its nice and may have some openings as well. My wife will be with me and the spa might just be an option for a day, especially since we will be there for the week. Personally I like to run Black Bear to Telluride for a nice lunch then back over Imogene, thats a great day!

A 100s run is a definite possibility....I know a guy that can make it happen...

Looks like fun. Do you think I'll see any FJ's if I go?

In the photos I didn't see a single 100, but if I can get the time off, I may just do this.

Its been an FJ event since the start, thus the name FJ Summit but we are wanting more "other" Toyota 4x4s. The event is open to all street legal Toyota 4x4s and the execs from TMS and TRD like the idea of expanding the Summit. I brought my 100 last year and there was one or two others along with some 40s and 4Runners along with Woodys 80. Right now the majority of registered rigs are FJs.

Its mutually beneficial to have companies like Slee and Proffits, they will help us draw in "others" and we hope to broaden their customer base not to mention the base of the vendors that have helped us since the start. All of the vendors you see listed on our sponsors page will have booths set up so you can pick their brains about the best products for your rig, they will also be leading trail runs so you can see their products in action. Woody will be there, if you have not met him he is a wealth of knowledge and a lot of fun to hang out with.

It really is a great family oriented event complete with a kids raffle and every kid is guaranteed to win. If you have any questions feel free to shoot me a PM.

Hope to see you in Ouray!

I have been going since 08.

Last year I drove my 4th gen 4runner and this year I will be there with the 100 Series.

Toyota brought 5th Gen 4runners last year to test them and show them off, Woody was there last year, It is a bit of a not to miss event and it doesn't matter any more what Toyota you are driving, IMHO..

There are a boat load of industry folks that go now, word has got out that it is super fun and well run.

Hope to see you there!

Also, you never know who you are going to bump into..

It is now definitely an event for all makes of Toyota, though, still dominated by the FJ Cruisers.

I would love to make this, but gas prices suck. Its about $2000 just for gas to drive there and back, then hotel, food, etc. And sadly about 25-30 hours of driving, one way, haha.

Chris, thats a great shot of you and Joe Bacal! Layton, you need to pack up Roux and make the trek. We have people coming from much farther than you, check the map, there is a pin of every registered drivers location:
staticmap

Its a  decision!

I'm due for a run out west and the timing is right on this one. Anybody know if they cap the trucks per trail run? I'd hate to go through all the registration forms, pay the fee just to find out that the only two difficult trail runs were full.

If you make the trek, and it is full, I will take you on Black Bear. Poughkipsie usually has room and a night run..might be unofficial.

^^yep, plenty of runs to go on. During registration you will have the option to pick your runs. If the runs you want are not open let me know and we will do what we can for you. We open up runs as things fill up so don't think all the runs are full and the ones listed are your only choice. We had a similar request come through this week and opened up two more runs.

To answer your question we do cap the trucks per run but have runs that start early in the morning and we space them out about 30 minutes apart in hopes that they don't bog down the trails.

Not at all, registration and meet and greet happens on Wednesday, start running the trails on Thursday, Metal Tech sponsors a party at the Saloon Friday night, and the raffle is on Saturday. Its an 18 hour drive from Austin so about 21 from H-town.

I'll probably drive up the weekend before, leave the 100 at the Denver airport (or maybe get some mods done at one of the Colorado 100 modders), fly home for work, and then fly back Thursday night. Then do a marathon drive back on Sunday.

Must download some new audiobooks for iphone.

Im sure Christo would take good care of it....

Trying seriously to talk the wife into it. The Spa idea may have struck home....... We will see. I have never really wheeled the 100. Sound like a great opportunity to get to know what she will do.

Is there camping available? Trying to save money.

KOA just outside of Ouray... nice place with optional camping cabins, general store, breakfast, hot tub, laundry, and WiFi. Call soon they fill up fast. There is more rural camp just south of Ouray called the Amphitheater camp grounds or something like it but be prepared for bugs. Stayed at several places in the area KOA has been the best bang for the buck.
