Been reading up on Black Bear and Poughkeepsie Gulch...those who have done both and had to pick one or the other, which would you choose? It seems like Black Bear's challenge is more of braking and backing where as Poughkeepsie Gulch is more climbing...is that the case?

Am looking at pictures on my office wall of a September run from a few years back. Both are nice, but I prefer Black Bear. The view of Telluride as you come down the first off-camber stair steps is worth the trip for me. Black Bear is more psychologically challenging since all you can see out of the windshield is air on the switchbacks ....

The wall is the only real challenge on Poughkeepsie and it's a real crapshoot. It can either be really easy or a real bear ... I've seen both conditions

Pretty common that openings occur for the rides...I seem to recall one of the early morning Saturday runs having only 4-5 of the registered rigs show up :)

Sleep on Saturday morning can be a requirement...haha

True that Woody, Metal Tech will be holding their traditional party at the Saloon on Friday night. On a side note, I believe they opened up more trails late last week. If you have signed up for trails and want to change them keep watching the Summit website.

Have to say the event is very lucky to have someone like you dedicated to making this happen.

Hard work, Total dedication.

Cant tell you how much I appreciate that. We have a great group of guys that work hard for months on end to make the Summit a success. The one thing that we ask is that people come to Ouray to have fun and support the vendors that help make this event a success. Without them this event would not happen!

Went last year, can't wait for this year.Already registered, looking for any other San Antonio/Austin area folks that want convoy up to Ouray.

I am in Austin, my wife and I will be leaving the Friday before. We will probably go see some friends in west Texas for a night then on up into Santa Fe for two nights before heading into Ouray on Monday.

One of the best convoys around heads out of Dallas on the Sunday before, hosted by TRDParts4u, they will camp near Raton NM that night before heading into Ouray on Monday. Some folks hook up with them in Amarillo, let me know if you want the link to the convoy info.

We broke 200 registered vehicles this past weekend and will most likely close registration at about 225. Once we get all of the vendors registered along with some stragglers we will end up with about 250 vehicles/drivers with 600 people in attendance.

Make the trek, :steer:, its well worth it!
