Hey guys. I have been having a hell of a time finding the correct slave cylinder for my truck. Ever since I bought it i have never been able to find a slave that fir the rubber line that goes to my current slave. I keep rebuilding it but it eats the seals up and gets caught inside which causes me not to be able to get in gear.

Its a 69, but the production year is 68. It is on the passenger side and from what I have read 40's were different and changed to the passenger in 75. So confused. I have tried to get adapters and after spending an hour at my local hydralic shop they were as stumped as me.

Any ideas what I have here. I have purchased three different ones in the past three weeks. All to big for the line I have.

I know alot of you may say its a standard 10mm fitting but the new slaves don't take a 10mm adapter... :meh:

tthat IS odd

pics?

Carmon, I've got 1 I think, but it would need a rebuild also. might be a better start tho. let me know.

I remember Jeff Zepp posting up about the weird threads these early masters had, I think he said it was a British pitch?

Do you know of the LCML? Go over there and search for posts by him, or just post up.

Don't know if it's any help or not but my 72 also has the clutch slave on the passenger side. As far as I can tell it's the original OEM cylinder. Since the rebuild kit is still available from Toyota, that's what I used to rebuild it and everything went together perfectly. The flexible line was completely dry rotted and I ordered a new one from Sonny at FJparts.com. Fits perfectly. The end that connects to the slave is a male fitting that takes a 17mm wrench. The other end of the hose is a female fitting that goes up to the hard line on the firewall. Not 100% sure but I think the nut on the hard line takes a 10mm wrench. Still haven't been able to get the truck on the road but everything seems to be working perfectly in the shop.

You can mount your clutch slave on either side.
I assume you're taking your slave with you to the hose store?
British thread would not surprise me, the Japanese auto makers borrowed a lot from the English too.
If I ran into a wall with getting a hose to fit your slave, I'd get a later year slave and make it fit. You might need a later year master as well...

Yep took the old slave and new one with me to the hydraulic place. I will call and see if they have British pipe fittings. I'm tempted to get a whole new master and slave like you mentioned pighead. Anybody have any idea where I would get a hose. I have everything else.

Paul I think I'd be in the same boat... I have reused the slave and rebuilt it three times... It works for a bit but it always fails... So if it's in great condition then I'd take it but otherwise I'd be worried it wouldn't work.

Guys... Where would I source a hydraulic line like the one on jtoutfitters conversion setup. I'm gonna do what pighead suggested. I have everything else I just need a line to use... For some reason my hydraulic place can't source the ends... If anyone knows the size that would be great too.

Carmon, I can't remember the name of the place, it's north of the airport on hwy 2? logging and rigging supply place. is that where you went? maybe it's Northwest Parts and rigging??

Paul, yeah that's the place I usually go to and the place I hung out at for an hour and a half the other day. They weren't able to figure out the size on the slave for me. He told me if I can get the thread pitch and size he can order it but he didn't have anything that worked in stock...

Ping Jeff Zepp on the LCML

Hey Pablo, excuse my ignorance but what is LCML?
