Time to post some pictures and details of custom FJ60 bumpers front and back.

Let's see some of the different styles and all the customization.

DETAILS and detailed pictures.

What makes your bumper great? Did you build it or buy it? Where?

Here are a few I threw together last week. Not completely welded out or finilazed yet, but....

Front is a design mainly pirated from 2mbb's thread here on MUD. Back is metal I had laying around in the shop. Hinges for swingouts are homemade for mock up purposes.

Still need to skin the top of front bumper and weld out. Back bumper needs hinges changed out with the IPOR ones on order, welded out, hitch, ladder, and removeable gas/water can holder built.

Enjoy your build.

This is my OEM Custom Winch bumper :) extended and reinforced mounts on a fj62 bumper with an added winch plate on top :) I love it! It looks factory and adds the ability for a winch, I'm going to be building a bull guard here soon!

I plan to copy these:

Not mine but I like the minimalist approach, not to mention the improvement of the departure angle in the rear.

my own design all 3/16 mild steel. i had to move the front x-member back a few inches to get the winch back far enough. it mounts flat with the front of the frame. i need to put on a better fairlead because it gets hung up on stuff. but other than that i like the way it turned out.

Front started with original builder making a high mount 8274 holder and some tube crap that got cut off then I started from scratch to finish bumber with some brush gaurd.

Back was built by previous owner with just a rectangular tube which I then added the side quarter protection out of some scrap I had lying around and the extra tractor lights for backing up since my reverse lights were toast from too many water crossings. :hillbilly:

There's some really good fabrication here! This is my 1st bumper which also happened to be my first welding project, ever. Unfortunately, I thought it would look better Rhino coated. In hindsight, I may have been wwrong. This bumper is made with 3/16" steel ande it is fully baffled and boxed. The tubing is schedule 40 pipe. I boxed the front ends of the frame and built a bracket that the bumper bolts to with the four bolts in the front. I wanted to be able to take the bumper off quick and easy. The reason for the overbuild was because of the years I spent in Miami where you could come out of a store and find your bumper caved in and no note. I wanted to make sure that whatever vehicle that came into contact with the bumper in whatever circumstance, got the worst of the interaction. I have since bent by license plate bracket and done $1200 worth of damage to Subaru (Which is exactly how Subarus should be treated). Note: Somehow the camera is making the bumper look bent down on the sides in the top picture. It isn't, the bumper is straight and square.

The one I bitched together over the winter. Winch "box" is 1/4" hardened held on with 14 bolts. Has a hilift across the top tubes now. No pics with the summer tires yet.

Now THAT'S what were talking about. I myself am in the middle of collecting photos of these bumpers to do a build for my new 'other' outfit. Crikie! Hey Moscow, have you got any kind of measurements. You've got the right idea for me. Killed two deer and a Subie here in Bozeman this winter, just waiting for a Buffalo in the park. I was going to start the welding this week, except we just got 16 more inches of the white stuff. What is your back bumper going to look like? Well interested.
