I'd say keep them together or separate them. Or maybe not...

together is good i need wetherstriping for my 45 and 55 but the 40 is good. bj60 just needs the body cut off and fenders trimed.

Garth1 has a good point.

You know what I think would go, and keep the riff raff seperate is a OEM, or Restorer's forum, where the tech would be, "is this OEM or what interior light is stock on my FJ45 etc........." :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

maybe 60 and 62 should be seperate, too! :flipoff2:
They should be. Could not be more different. It was the biggest change Toyota ever did drivline wise in the US>

Maybe we can have an additional section inside the 40 forum for 55 series as they are basically a BIG 40 series. I would like to see who has them and what the current issues with parts/resto are. I have 2 I am restoring and would love to bitch about them to a group that understands the issues. POR has sorta become a 45LV page. Why not make Mud the 55 goto place?

We need to keep it within the 40 series section as all of us can benifit from the gereral tech; especially mechanical tech.
Woody, lets step up. I would be happy to mod a new 55 section or help out any mod that Woody decides upon.

either way is fine

suppose leatherique will be getting its own section too soon, followed by a "do these curtains make my landcruisers ass fat?" section.

While I hate dealing with 40 owners on questions, I don't think there should be a separate forum :)

Honestly - it already is slightly inconvenient when you're searching the archives, because sometimes it might be answered in the tech forum or the 60 forum. I ran into this recently on trying to solve a hesitation problem on my wife's 60.

I've tried to keep up with the splits on the forum - The wife already said she's getting a 100 series this spring, so I can fulfill the required forums on each one - but more than likely, I'll sell the 60 :(

Same here as a pig owner. In fact I think 40/55/60 should all be together then you can learn things about different models and they are all so similar and there definetely won't be enough traffic in a 55 section. It is kind of fun bouncing around different forums. But I do think 80 and 100 should have their own sections if there is enough traffic (seems to not be a problem) because they are each so different.

keep the pig! keep the pig! keep the pig! There just GRREEEEAAAAATTTTT!
Never had the chance to see one execept from pictures! I'm a sucka for theses
beasts :D

I'd LOVE a 55 FAQ and co-mod for this section (or it's own section, depending on poll results)

Does anyone have a copy of the old TLCA FAQ that was written by Rob Mullen? I gave him some FJ55 stuff that he incorporated into the FAQ in a specific 55 section way back when. I don't have a copy of it anymore since that was 6-8 years ago and I can't seem to find it on TLCA's website. It wasn't complete by any means but it would be a place to start for 55 FAQ.

my vote is keep it the way it is, i love my 40, but i like learning about both and if i could ever find a nice 55 i would love to pick it up for the family rig. dont know if the wife would agree. oh well.

Too bad you don't live closer to S. Utah. A neighbor has his Pig sitting in front of my shop with a for sale sign on it right now. Runs sweet. Not too much rust. 2 grand, might even talk terms. ;)

...I've always thought of the 60 as the departure to a more "civilized" cruiser.

My god! Is that supposed to be a good thing or a bad thing  The concept of a "civilized" cruiser still makes me shudder and I really had a hard time reconciling the advent of the 60. That pill was easier to swallow when I found out they still used real Cruiser parts and even improved some stuff underneath the pretty sheet metal.
