Spring saddles to clean up those spring plates that hang down and catch on things and shear the spring pack bolt when you stuff it on a rock leaving you stranded with your axle flopping around and leaf springs splaying out.

I also kept them blow the main two longest leafs the important ones so any cracked leaf can easily be seen.

What a cool idea !

Broke my crappy chipping hammer handle so instead of rehandling it I thought I deserved to make a nice new one.

Did you use DOM or just schedule 40 pipe? That’s how I did my bumpers, it’s nice
cause the shackle stays true and doesn’t wobble or bind up under load.
I should copy that for the Tundra, someone removed the fronts. Ive been fabbing new
guide feet for my snow plow. Those are nice!

I’m not sure likely schedule40 it was just one of the chunks of pipe i been hoarding for years that fit a 5/8 shackle nice. I have extra 1/2 plate you can have for free if you ever end up down this way.

Soon I will have a picture to show of my new bumper. It’s been a ugly bumper for too long this will be its third reworking and hopefully the last. It was a 8inch channel bumper but I’m hoping it won’t look so much like a channel bumper once I’m done.

Thanks for the offer. I bought a 20 foot piece of 1/2x6 when I built my rear bumper. I only needed 36" if I recall. But it was almost half
the price had I bought the 36" from Metal Supermarket. I have quite a stash of metal unfortunately since it was cheaper to buy lengths or
full sheets than 2' square. But I did buy 12" of DOM to match the shackles since that is for recovery and breaking isn't what I was looking for.
Good God! You are really putting full payload to those poor damned front springs with that one! 3/16" max for a bumper. IMHO
Now I've survived and the Tundra is running, I plan to come down for purely social reasons next weekend, so will let you know as I pass
through on my way south.

@stevebradford You gettin' the 40 ready for some wheeling this summer? :steer:

And what's wrong with channel bumpers....haha. Been meaning to do something different with mine too. It's been functional, but looks like crap. One of those things I'll get to if I ever get around to buying a welder.

I like your 'Canada' shackles. Mine say 'China'. :(

That’s the plan always, unfortunately I’m more of a builder than a adventurer. A couple excursions a year is plenty for me.

You have to pay a lot extra for the truck nipple rings to say Canada on it!

Don’t let the annoying fancy pants tell you different, Channel is sexy! I have loads of free metal for you if your inventive enough to use it when you get welding. Almost everything I build is free aside from weld supplies.

A sneak peek

I might shamelessly copy this bush bar style for my bumper, what do you guys think?

Will your bar be seeing any bush?

Bumper looks good! I like the weight reduction / airflow features. Removable winch is handy as allows use in front or back (or on 60).

You got me there hah! Alright shopping cart bash bar.

Yeah the speed holes are for weight reduction so I can go faster.

Exactly the plan is to have the bumpers front and back of both trucks have a hitch receiver and wiring receiver for a winch. Possibly have a receiver on the trailer also. Reasoning for that is so I can have one nice well maintained working winch be stored out of the weather when I’m not using it.

60 series don’t need rockers or rear quarters, In my mind i made it look better!

I have a stainless one you could have. Clearly built at 2am in a mill. Not the prettiest but you could maybe modify?
Thanks! I’m interested even if it’s just for the bones to build off of.

Still got those D rings for you from my old bumper also.
