No need to deploy the backup. Just need to un tweak the bolt on basket. The cooler may be done though. knocked the hinges and a handle off.

or just go without a cooler - been doing this for years :meh:

Or, you can just avoid the rocks in the first place... save the cash for important things like beer !!!

Rock climbing: no matter where you go there will always be a rock one inch larger than your rig can climb; and probably a few much larger than that.

I elect to continue enjoying the pile of cash already spent, rather than let it sit in the garage out of danger. Further cash will also be used for beer.

thats some serious "Shakedown!"

Further inspection of the cooler rack shows a slight dimple on the tub at the upper hinge. And all the screws are loose. Oh well, a little nudging and tweaking brought it back to tolerable.

The frosty beverage holder is saved!:bounce2::bounce:

The Blazer has little trouble going anywhere he points the beast. The only time Ive seen it stopped was when two tires on the same side fell in a rut on Log Corral trail . High centered on the diffs and all 4 wheels spinning. Took me and a Jeep tied together to drag him off.

For further run results repair: Got some custom laser cnc cut rubber replacement hinges for the battered cooler. My 2nd trail cooler to receive such an upgrade.

Throw enough money at the issue and most anything can be accomplished :) but I'm curious, did he already know what was on the other side?

Those hinges look pretty cool; are they reinforced or pure rubber? And who does the custom cutting for you? Nice functional repairs, kudos!

That's an old pic from some K5 forum I found. I wasn't there, but I'm sure he knew where he was headed. He's not one to just drive off into the unknown. Pretty methodical about obstacles, but doesn't let sheet metal stand in the way.

Hinges are plain rubber, probably EPDM. We have a laser cutter were I work and I'm the guy in charge of feeding it data and making whatever we dream up and can fit in it. Only soft materials though. Not enough watts to cut metal :(

Very nice to have "people" in place for cool custom one off stuff like the hinges
