I sleep very well in the back of mine. I set my bed up on the first night and did not take down the whole trip.

Love the old mine, I should really get myself an air monitor, I always go in for a look when we find one.

I think about it too. This mine did have lower levels. We did not venture down and one of the side tunnels had a collapse that let in air and light. Come out to Colorado and I can take you to some neat mines where an air monitor would be useful.

Sounds like an epic adventure. Not much Colorado but the route you show on the map between Rangley and Fruita does have an alternate route which I will cover on Day #8.

Day #5. Beautiful morning with another group shot before hitting the Pony Express Trail again.

We wound our way to the semi-ghost town of Gold Hill. Established in 1892 and had a population of over 3,000. Named for the mountain east of town where they mined silver, gold, copper, lead, tungsten, and arsenic.

Then onward to Blue Lake, where some of our crew took a refreshing swim in the somewhat salty water.

After Gold Hill we made our way to the Historic Wendover Airfield in Nevada where they trained the bomber crews that dropped the atomic bombs on Japan. After Wendover we continued on to the Silver Island Mountains where we made camp.

Day #6 stated with some of our group driving out to the Bonneville Salt Flats International Speedway where the Land Cruisers were in immediate hit with all the people who were there. Including being used by a photographer shooting a model in a wedding dress.

If you look in the top right corner of the Bonneville Salt Flats International Speedway sign you can see the Year of the Pig sticker that Deo put on the sign.

After Bonneville we continued north and eventually met back up with the rest of the group.

Before entering the Devil's Playground, PabloCruise decided to part ways and start their trip back home.

At the Devil's Playground we ran several trails until settling on a place for camp.

Day #7. We left Devil's Playground and took the trails from there to City of Rocks in Southern Idaho. The trail Jmack lead us on got a little hard to follow by the end. And then there were the cows we had to go through.
