Thanks Bushboy I'll be sure and check out the frame of the seats and stuff before I buy any to make sure I think they are strong enough.

yeah that is a good point. alan's trail truck seat is a LC seat but one side bracket needs to be reinforced. So we'll definatley have to look for some stout ones. We may be able to find some out of like an Isuzu trooper or a ford ranger. Those might be a litte more stout.

I like those. I'll have to check out some Celica's on Monday when I go to the pick and pull

Where are your four points attached in the back? I've heard they have to be solid mounted close to the top of the seat or when you go forward, they will crush down on you.

Saw a bunch of tauruses today in case anbody wants the fans or power dist center thing I could pull them and ship all you would have to pay is cost. I liked the seats in the chevy cavaliers they were pretty comfy and they mount really easy all the brackets are the same length. Also saw some nice seats in an explorer I liked. Saw some out of a mercedes as well. Guy told me about $50 for both front seats out of most anything there. So I'll probably head back pretty soon and wander around again and make a final choice. On another note anybody interested in a york compressor? I know they are pretty desireable as well and we came across a few of those.

I'll try and get you pics of the brakets / mounts used in my pig. I have tercel? seats and they are the bomb.

When I pulled this arrangement from my donor pig, I did have to cut some of the stock seat perches out of my 71 pig. I do love the way she rides with buckets. Beats the hell out of the bench.

Checked out every set of bucket seats in a local wrecking yard. There were only about 3 that I would consider swapping in. The ones I like most were out of a late 80's early 90's Chrysler Le Baron. The only thing that sucked was that they were red (blargh!). This wrecking yard is pretty pathetic though. Still plannin on scouring some yards in Phoenix in a few weeks.

I have some 97 Civic buckets that I was going to use but since I put the rear heater in the seat would have to be up so high that I'd need a lump in the roof like "Harry and the Henderson's". Is everyone using a rear heater or not? I really want to keep it but the bench sucks eggs. Need ideas.

I run seats in my 55 that came from a Mercury Villager van. Cost $10 each and both are full power with lumbar compressors in 'em. Best thing about them is they mount to a FLAT floor in their original application anjd that makes it extremely easy to bolt into a 55. No brackets to mess with, remove the original seat and its' stands, then drill mounting holes through the floor to mount the new seats. I love my seats, fully adjsutavble of course and they were cheap. lotsa designs availabel, too in the Villager series of vans. Gary S

The Montero bouncy:bounce2: seat that has a shock and it’s like riding on a cloud. It has a flat base and is about 14 inches high about the same height as the bench seat in my ’55. They are much sought after by Montero owners. I know because I have one. But for now I’m going to stick with my bench seat for the dog.

I picked up a pair of leather seats out of a Maxima last night. They still have the sliders and the adjustable lumbar and side bolsters. The first is them still in my buddy's Zook.

I got a leather set of buckes out of a late model buick riviera, power everyway. The improvment over the bench is indesribable!

I used the exiting chanel on one site and made some ugly but functional support for the other side from short pieces of steel tube drilled at top and bottom. You will discover that the bottom of a 55 is not level it slopes.

I talked the guy at the bone yard down to $65 for the pair.

Just got some caddie 2003 cts seats installed. Installation was pretty straight forward. Because of their size, the rearmost seat mounts need to be about 4" back from the stock rearmost mount. I just made a bracket out of 1x2" and 0.12" x3" stock. Seats have a lot of up and down adjustment, maybe 4" of travel, which is cool since I like my seat lower than most.

Not the best pics, my digi is dead so the camera phone does it.

Call me old fashioned but I still like the stock bench. I had mine redone. Its comfortable and you can squeeze in an extra passenger. Some seat installs look OK but others look like big gray balloons. To me the stock bench is part of the Piggy charm...
