My :princess: was driving our '08 last evening. She used the brakes hard to avoid hitting a deer. She says the seat belts tightened up on her, as in, pulled her back towards the seat. I was skeptical. I have searched and can't find anything other than a similar statement in the "Cruisers Save Lives" thread. Has anyone else noticed or experienced this? Is this for real? Is this a feature unique to the 2Hundy?

Yes, it is real. I have done it accidentally and on purpose. It's called Active Seatbelt Pre-Tensioning, I think.

I'm sure it's part of the precollision system doing what it's supposed to do. It's not unique to the LC tho.

Pre Collosion System take over and prepares to avoid damage to occupants and vehicle.

Yep. It is awesome. "Used it twice". Just go out on a parking lot get up to about 45. and quickly hit the brakes hard to experience it. Not sure where the cut off is but it is speed related.

It this standard on all years?

It's on my 08. Works great

Sent from my extremely unreliable mobile device using IH8MUD Forum

It's also on my '13 - found out it works very well

first time it happens to you seconds seem to slow down until it releases grip - its a nice feature to have

We like to pretend that there is a little robot that lives in there and is looking out for our wellbeing!

How does one tell if they have this feature? I have a 2009 I bought used and don't know if it came with this feature.

AFAIK, it's been around since at least the late 100-series... I don't think it's optional equipment on the 200-series (standard, safety feature). It should be standard on your '09.

Get in a big parking lot or empty street...go about 25mph...slam the brakes on (like REALLY HARD) and you'l find out the same way I did--except you'll expect it! I didn't know the feature existed until it just happened. It's a little startling...but extremely effective.

Yep used it a couple times as well after being cut off, apparently black is hard to see in the daylight.

2014 year model. Had seat belts precollision activate today on us. Was not braking and nothing in front of us to signal a collision. Anyone else experience this arbitrarily occurring?
I only have experienced this with hard braking. I would get your rig checked out
