So, TG ships these with the wrong machine screws for the tight space we’re dealing with here.
Anyone have the specs for the proper buttonhead replacement?
I used a slightly diff search term, came up with zip. Will try that, thx!Sorry to be that guy, but do a search in the 80 section for "trailgear nut" and you'll find the thread that has it. That's how I found it an followed it to get them for mine.
The only caveat I'll add is that I really don't like Allen-head screws because invariably the tiny Allen head strips out in the screw, and there is nothing left to get hold of. If I do it again, I will replace them with either a #2 Phillips head or a straight cut screwdriver head (slotted) You cannot "torque" those tiny little screws. and when the Allen wrench slips in it, there's no grabbing it. I could MAYBE see using a Torx version.
Or just take the nut to the hardware store, like we would have in the old days l, to determine thread pitch.
Yea use the screw I pointed out if running drive flangesCourtesy @ajax1
I’m reading hand-tight, with or without lock washers, no loctite. Using supplied or wrong set screws grinds the heads off and can damage the TG nut.

No issues to date?Yea use the screw I pointed out if running drive flanges
Nope all goodNo issues to date?
What’s the spec on the bolt I’ll need to thread into the axle shaft?
No preload first, or would that be pointless?M8x1.25 threads in the axle end. Torque the nut to 25ftlbs and lock it down. Some members go 30-35ftlbs but 25 is working for me on 37’s. If your spindle, bearing housing/hub and /or wheel bearings are warn out, retaining bearing preload will be impossible.
