Goodies

Purchased the Dometic cfx-50us this is dometics latest model with a more efficient compressor and extra goodies. I decided on the Dometic over the ARB for a few reasons.

  1. Lid opens from the side (not the end like the ARB) this is crucial for my set up to be able to reach in the fridge from my emuwing opening.
  2. Its a very well known brand that's been around for a long time used in many RVs, yet the prices are reasonable.
  3. I got the slide, jacket and fridge for the price of the equivalent 50 qt ARB

I will do a full review on the fridge later including a defect I found (I'm a picky dude) but the cooling and quality is good.

I'm really happy with the lid, and was able to almost empty 2 sections of my drawer and put them in the gate. Nothing heavy, jumper cables, tow strap, straps, spare shoes (don't laugh), syphon, toilet paper, paper towels etc...

The gate makes a closing sound of a vault, for gate and lift gate. It added considerable weight do to removal of the spring assist and the heft of the lid. I will need to upgrade the cable supports, been looking all day for a set, they need to be 14" long.

Also hopefully I can fit one of these on:

I will also add the stock gate seems paper flimsy now compared to this. I noticed yesterday the stock gate actually bends!! I jumped off of it trying to avoid falling and noticed the edge bent! after bend in it back and putting this on... cables will snap before gate gives at all.

Had to replace my windshield next after having several long cracks due to some asshat passing several cars on the median throwing deribs and rocks to all cars he was passing. Let me just say this, shops around town here know how difficult it is to change the windshield on these trucks and actually turned me down, flat out told me they don't do it for the LX470 or the LC. I had ordered the parts already and asked them to do it and I would sign a waver still no go.

I finally decided to pay the premium for safelite, because I knew they would fix anything they break. The tech had done a LC 100 earlier that day before mine and knew the challenges.. still the typical mirror screw issue happened and stripped. 3 days later he showed up with a new screw.

Lesson learned here, anyone replacing a windshield before you do order 3-4 mirror screws and have them in hand before you even get the cruiser to a windshield shop.

Apparently the flaw is the screw is in a difficult spot, no way to be grabbed well and is placed by factory with locking thread glue. Guranteed to strip this bolt and it's not a bolt you can buy anywhere really only order.

Hope this saves someone some grief.

This OLED display is always on but uses almost no power and it's easy to read from any angle.

Some input about this blue sea volt meter for the aux battery installed here. Initially it's so distracting!! now I know why they don't display this on your dash with two decimal places. You find your self watching it constantly to see how much voltage each appliance takes. I have to learn to only look when needed.

I've learned my x-vision halogens take 2-volts on low beams and two LED rack lights take 1-volt. LEDs are crazy efficient. This is the distraction.... you are constantly adding up volts while seeing the gauge increase/decrease.

Hey man, i have a back up camera also going to the kick panel. What color wire did you plug into as the one used did not work me. Not able to tell fro the pic...

Thx!

@Buckfl,

I was running constant 12v from Aux Batt to rear and got another chance at a pic behind this panel, so as promised below is a larger pic with the wired tapped for 12v when reverse is on.

Started running constant 12v to the back of the cruiser, connected to the Aux battery. I chose the driver side for several reasons, I had a 30 min debate before getting to this conclusion. Removed the rear panel which I hate doing especially that side. Used silicone 6 GA.
