Hi. I’m new here… about to complete the purchase of a Saudi FJ40 LX. I’ve attached a photo of the body tag. Hoping for some advice on decoding it.
Thanks!

A lot can happen to a rig in 50 years - just because there is a data plate doesn't mean it goes with the frame stamp, cab, wiring etc.

FJ40 360071 was made November 1983
FJ40LV K is a left hand drive hard top with a four speed. Can't tell if there is a C for ambulance doors. Paint code 646 Beige. Interior trim L?41 definitely not the standard trim we had on the US. H41 is four with lower first gear which was pretty much standard in the Middle East. KO52 are 3.70:1 diffs. A11 is plant it was made.
Not sure why but all the 10/82+ LX FJ40s I've seen in the Middle East had four not a five speed. Original a LX model besides the zebra seat pattern seats cover would have brown floor mats, interior panel in the back, door panels and steering. The interior ambulance door handle has a brown cover. The rear seat is two piece bench facing forward.

Edit I need to use my glasses when looking at the SOR VIN chart on my phone. 360071 is November 1982. Which is a 83 model

Thanks so much for that decode! It does have ambulance doors… so I guess that means it’s a ‘C’ after the K. And yes it is a beige LX and had the brown & cream stripes seats, with the forward facing rear seats. The tag matches the number on the frame rail by the way.

One more question, being built in Nov 83, as you said, would it have been sold as an 83 or an 84. I’m pretty sure it would not have reached Saudi until 1984.

By the way - what’s the source for looking up these Saudi vins, so that I can do it myself?

Thanks so much!

What about some pics?

Congrats. It would have been sold as an '84 model. I looked at an 83 or 84 LX in Riyadh when I was there. Was very tempted but ultimately didn't make a deal with the owner. Does it have heat as well as AC or just AC?

I edited my post above. It's November 82. It's a 83 model. 10/82 a number of changes happened that month making it the model year change date. 1/75 and 1/79 are the two model years that started with the calendar year. Other years it changes that determine the model year.

Thanks! It didn’t come with a heater but Arabian Classics added a heater. We also put seat heaters as she’s eventually going to the USA.

By the way, I tried to post pics via sharing the Instagram post from the restoration shop (Arabian Classics) but that’s still pending moderation. So here are some of my pics. Apologies to any purists for changing the color (originally beige) and seat upholstery and steering wheel, but this looks at lot nicer. Also installed a 5-speed, dynamat and carpets. Aside from the trans and the addition of the heater, mechanically we didn’t modify it

You don't have to apologize to anyone. It's your nice 40. I like the seats. Do you know what brand they are?

Thanks! I don't know the brand of the seats. From prior discussion with the restoration shop, it seems like they were taking seats from late model junkyard Toyotas and reupholstering them. They have a local shop that does custom upholstery - I picked out the material from some samples, and provided pics from other seats I found on-line.

From memory Aus was the only country with the LX having the single drivers seat and 3/4 bench passenger seat, other countries seem to get 2 single seats and centre console, and 3 wiper blades seems to be an Aus only item as well.
Yep, this one originally had buckets, but I didn't see a center console. The standard non LX models have the single, 3/4 bench as standard as far as I can tell in KSA (I'm new to the FJ scene). Here's a pic of the original front seats...
