We will have room to take the hood and headed to salida after sas to grab an axle and some 60 series ac stuff. It should fit somewhere on the 36'gooseneck either in the bed of a 45 or under one of them. Modified some old soft doors just in case it is wet. Put a 40 bikini on a diet to fit over the headache rack. Looking forward to cooler weather, it is miserable here. See everyone soon!

Are you doing your own sewing? That's impressive. You and my wife should chat she's spent her career in clothing manufacturing and production.

I am not sure. We will be spread out but are meeting up in Colo Springs Sat and will head over the mountain on Sunday early am.
We are thinking of being around Sharon Springs, KS Friday night. Then pass though CO Speings Sat into the mountains. Flop somewhere along Hwy 50 (Gunnison area) Saturday night. Sunday down to lake city and take a trail in

Similar goals. Our original plan is to be on 36, but that could change if we feel like taking 70, and we have to drop south somewhere in the Sharon springs neighborhood and go across to 50.

We head out 5am this Saturday. Day 1 will take us from California & all across Nevada to Salina, Ut. The portion thru Nevada will be on Hwy 6/50, often called ‘The Loneliest Road in America’ & it feels like it. One section where it’s 160+ miles between gas stations. And more often than not…no cell service in case of trouble.🙉🙉. See everyone soon.🍺🏕️

Safe Travels to all heading to Ouray the next few days. Remember if you do run into issues along your route, more than likely there will be help nearby.
SAS has a network of friends in nearly every state thanks to the Mud Community.
Casey..

KOA sites:
Just had a cancelation for RV54 (in the back loop) if anyone wants to it message me.

This is a spot we want another SASer or CruiserHead to be in!

Love hwy 50. Spent hundreds of hours of my youth traversing that highway.

My wife is a self described “Guerilla Seamstress”.

She made these last night at my request:

Why flop off 50 ? Head up engineers pass about mile marker 11 on the lake city side (Golconda Mine complex). There are awesome camping spots right on the creek. 1 of my favorite spots to camp up there. I haven't been up to the mining complex in a few years . So don't hold me to road conditions to head off the main route to head up to the mining complex . It time avails take a few hours and head up the trail to the complex what is at the end is soooooooooooooooooooo worth it . There are about a dozen or so camp sites on the creek. If you have fishing poles head down the trail(towards lake city) 1/2 mile(not engineers You will understand when you see it) . there's a beaver pond that is usually loaded with rainbow trout . I always plan a stay and dinner there

Chris, Casey, and myself are going to take Stony Pass in. Depending on time left in the day, we'll either pavement back from Silverton, or run dirt to Ouray.
Poughkeepsie, or Engineer. Engineer I feel like might be easier to drag the trailer down with a few places being a little sketchy.

Take a lot of video if you do happen to drag a trailer down Poughkeepsie. You might have more nerve than me.

There is some amazing camping right below tree line on Poughkeepsie about 2 miles past the turnoff from Mineral Creek.

While I was looking for that picture I came across this one of us on Engineer Pass. The weather looks ominous.

I wouldn't be going down the wall, and taking any of the bypasses I can.

Depends mostly on how rowdy I'm feeling and how much time we've got left in the day.

I am thinking I should probably add brakes to the trailer and a controller in the 40. I did put an RV plug on the trailer, so it wouldn't be hard to throw some drums on and wire them up. We'll see how it does.

I am working on my trailer brakes at the moment, too. @RevISK was right. My trailer light converter wasn’t grounded. I nicely tucked the ground wire up into the frame and zip tied it out of the way. Ha. One step closer to hitting the road.

It’s ALWAYS the ground on a trailer.
