LOWERING PRICE TO $25k!
It breaks my heart, but I am needing to sell my 1979 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 that I’ve been working on for the last 2.5 years.
History: This truck sat in a storage yard for over 20 years before I rescued her. She was a mess, complete with seized engine, shredded seats, rodent poop, a mess.
Over the course of these 2.5 years, I had a lot of work done to her. She now runs and looks awesome, but still needs more work, and that is why I have decided to pass her along to the next caretaker.
She’s an original California FJ40, with dealer stripes, original paint (aka amazing patina), original 2F 6-cylinder engine. The odometer is stuck at 74K, so unknown how many true miles. I’ve only driven her probably a total of less than 50 miles since she’s been running.
Here is a comprehensive list of things that have been done/replaced/fixed to her, though I may have forgotten something:

- Removed, welded radiator
- New power steering pump
- Carburetor rebuilt
- Replaced gas tank with new tank
- Replaced fuel filter
- Engine rebuilt
- New vacuum tubes (most)
- Starter rebuilt
- Alternator rebuilt
- New water pump
- A/C compressor but A/C fan does not work
- New brakes
- New wheel bearings
- Exhaust manifold cleaned and heat coated
- Powder coated original wheels and hubcaps - black
- New catalytic converter, muffler, tail pipe
- New proportioning valve installed
- Passed CA smog
- Battery tray and air cleaner painted black
- New ignition lock and keys made since mechanic lost original keys
- Power steering serviced
- New tires
- New seat belts
- New seats and seat brackets - Corbeau
- New overflow/washer fluid tank - electric pump not connected
- Diver side window regulator replaced
- New wiper blades
- Wiper blade motor works
- Fully registered in CA
- Extra set of wheels with older tires
- New brake booster and master cylinder installed
- New tie rod end kit installed
- New door handles installed
- Did I mention she passed smog?
Original paint, nice patina.
Things that will need to be addressed:
- Dent on driver-side fender and between door and back wheel
- Bondo work on driver side rear corner due to rust spot
- Rust patch on passenger side rear corner
- Some rust under the front windshield, though does not look that bad
- Needs a headliner
- Speedometer does not work (I just used an app on my phone)
- Odometer - stuck at 74,000
- Most lights work (brake, turning, headlights)
- Heater is untested
- Factory A/C needs electrical work as it doesn’t turn on
- Original AM radio sort of works - can get a couple stations
- I’ll include uninstalled weather stripping (passenger and rear ambulance doors)
