so, when you go through Sandstone, and it gets narrower after you go over this little ledge, and you get to the point where the wheels on both sides of an 80 start riding up the walls, how much farther can you go than that?

It's not narrow passages with tires riding up the walls, it's these BIG rocks that would stop even LaCabra! Reid and I went about as far as we could go before being forced to turn around and come back. We could have gone around one more turn and then nothing but a hard core rock crawler could have gone further.

Here's how tight it gets.

Then you have to go over a rock, and your rack leans into the wall. Fun stuff.

anybody remembers this series of 1/2 hr "horror" shows of the 60s, tales of the crypt it was called maybe?

there was this one where this family in a car was going down a subterranean parking structure and the ramp was getting narrower and narrower...

:)

and your metal Jerry cans full of gas start rubbing on the rock....

(eh, did you see that you caught by accident a photo of the rare -believed to be extinct- Sandstone Dinosaur...? I can see it in the mirror... Pure luck! major scientific discovery? :D )

You got me - aerodynamics at speed over washboards! It's a mod I've never disclosed here. It's a motion sensor set to light, medium or heavy washboards. The heavier the setting the faster the speed needs to be to have the mirrors automatically retract. It was a bitch wiring up, but it's way cool.

Great pictures, looks like quite an adventure made even better by great company.

:o Thanks! :D

Great pictures guys. Dave: nice write-up. I wish my wife was as adventurous as Yosh. I'm working on it ;).

OK, so why hasn't this been submitted to "The Perfect Trail" Sticky yet????

Or maybe Lower Coyote should be submitted? It's got a water crossing, great camp site, rock garden, big horn sheep????
Sandstone is nice, but the out and back factor takes away from it a bit IMO. I would vote for Coyote Canyon over Sandstone. Still out and back but you have a great place to camp. Now, back in the day, when Coyote went all the way through . . .

That was nice.
