Great write up and great Cruiser. So do you know if the new pioneer units have cords or not? I too have heard that a higher mounting position for the camera works better. Love the bumper!!

Sure would be nice to be able to press the CDL switch without stopping and putting the transfer case into low gear. I think this is going to be our next mod. Thanks for the unput.

Teresa

The CDL does not put the Tcase into LO. It locks the front and rear axles for better traction while you are in high. Otherwise, the only way to lock the front and rear axles is when you are in Low.

So in snowy weather, you can drive at 40MPH with the axles locked.

This is different than the lockers in the axle which lock the tires to each other. See the diif for dummies link in the FAQ

That was what I meant, right now to have the center locked I have to go into low which means you have to crawl on the road, so having the CDL switch would be a great asset for on the road decent driving. Atleast I think I understand it right.

Wondered where your head was this morning.
But thought I would let the lady correct you.

I have a wife and two teenage daughters, I am use to having ladies correct me.

Sounds like Teresa has it all together. So who does the wrenching. Do you two fight over who gets to pack the birf?

nice rig ,
you should try to move the camera upp to make it better for backing upp, i have the same camera and headunit (they are caled avic-x1 here) and i mounted the camera in the vind deflector on top of the rear,Works for me and you are able to keep an eye one you're trailer if you have one.

love the rear bumper , it looks like it can take a hittt :D

Yes this is where I wanted to put it however, I was not willing to penatrate the roof. We have enough leaks that we have been fighting.

Nice write-up and story. Gotta agree with you about the PIAA 520 fogs mounted on the ARB. Semi worthless. Driving lights would be a better investment there.

Yes I wish the front bumper had a spot for the fog lights built into it and then I could run some lightforces on top.

I looked at it like this the High beams on this thing are awesome I have driven a lot of cars and trucks and the only one that is as good is a 2005 BMW X5.

The low beams suck.

So the intent was to improve this and help driving in rainy weather and the PIAAs do help.

Sam,

That's one cool looking rig.

Thanks for the compliments. At first when Sam got on ih8mud, I would find myself getting pissed at all the time he spent here. I would try to call home and the line would be busy. Quickly I realized what a cool site this is and what great people there are in the cruiser world. I have been hooked. I even get on the site at lunch time at work.
As far as mechanical skills go for me, I admit Sam changes fluids etc and does that kind of stuff. I check the fluids, air pressure, and have become the leak Nazi. I've removed all of the inside panels on the truck in search of the water leaks. I cleaned and resealed the rearslider trim piece and I removed the driverside door panel and replaced the broken ds mirror. My next fix is to replace the radio antenna with the new motor/antenna we got from CDAN.
I did pack the broken birf around for a while and showed everyone I know the broken parts. Probably not something a lady would usually carry around. Now I just make sure the spare is in the truck.

Ok, its not so bad being the "little boss", here's some of me having fun. I am glad I have Sam to guide me or help me in sticky situations. Yesterday, I couldn't get up our steep driveway because of the snow. I got stopped 3/4 of the way up. Glad he was there to back the truck down and then get up upthe hill. Any how, here are some of me at greenhorn.
Tree

Cool truck and write up. If I could mod my truck it would be more closer to this, expedition type. Stock has got to do for now.

And that last pic of Greenhorn, thats not the place where we went across at the end of the recent snow run, is it? It looks kinda tame there.

Thanks it all works well

that pic is from last year and it is further up the creek. That pic does not do justice. There is three off those ruts and it twist up your suspension pretty good on my truck it is maxed out and the front tire is off the ground by about 1.5" And we do hit bottom with the 2.5" lift. the runts were created by people with no lockers.

I like the little hill because it demonstrates the advatages of the staight axle and lockers.
The only way to get up that hill with no lockers and IFS in front is to hammer it and turn the wheels back and fourth. This could break things.:)

John, sam was talking about the pics of the hill. Yes the last pic is up at the sluice box area without all of the people. So you see how pics don't give an obstacle justice, looks like a small ditch huh. Thanks for the good comments
