The CDL does not put the Tcase into LO. It locks the front and rear axles for better traction while you are in high. Otherwise, the only way to lock the front and rear axles is when you are in Low.

So in snowy weather, you can drive at 40MPH with the axles locked.

This is different than the lockers in the axle which lock the tires to each other. See the diif for dummies link in the FAQ

Actually I think CDL just locks up the center diff or t-case forcing equal amounts of torque to the front and rear diffs.

Yes he knows

Sam,
I think he was talking about the rr camera higher- like under the rr spoiler (there are plenty of mounting screws there you can use) or under the top hatch lip- where the release lever is.

You will get much more distance perception

Rice Nig! It's tough balancing the budget between home and toy, I'm sure.
Thanks for the write-up!

Yes that is what we are talking about and like I said its where I wanted to place it but I could not see were I would run the wire so that I would not have another leak.

I would redu it if I was sure that I would have no leaks etc.

"Vind deflector" is Norwegian for spoiler

Why would you be worried about leaks?:D ;)

at the top, you can feed a wire thru the rubber grommet over on the far left or the washer tube in the center. Very easy to feed a wire thru w/o any worry of leaks
At the LAND CRUISER emblem, you can feed thru the child safety lock if the wire is thin enough...

I was interested in a rr camera too, so that's why I've taken an interst. Good luck:beer:

Ok Sam, that was an unauthorized reply. Use your own name next time.

Teresa & Sam,

Nice rig and I would like to say that both of you are contributing members to the 'Mud community. I hope you both participate here in the 80 section for a long time.

Thanks for the input I will look into this.

What is the best way to seal the holes from the OEM roof rack?

What would you do 4.56 or 4.88s?

may upgrade to Js but staying with 285-295s tires

There are 10+ threads discussing the OEM roof rack removal. T Y L E R took a fairly radical approach. C-Dan was one of the first to remove and seal his using screws. Some have had the holes welded and the roof repainted. E9999999 did a complete write-up on his approach a while back.

I used SS screws with galvanized "sealing washers" available at Lowes. A little sealant to keep water from seeping by the washers. My roof is still scarred with the footprints where the 4 pads wore to the undercoat.

For 35's and up, regearing to 4.88s is a good thing; particularly if you live and drive at higher altitudes. I wouldn't regear with 285's but that is mainly because of the high cost.

rear bumper

That rear bumper looks awesome. Did it fall between the $1200 - $1800 price range?

Thanks B

I have read some of these just wanted more opinions before I do it you know.

regearing yes the cost is steep but we want the rig built up right and I would say that I live in one of the steepest areas in the country. I feel like the trainny works in an out to much and just has to work to hard to climb hills on road. Off road the low is just not good for the weight etc. Ran a trail that droped 2.500 ' in 2miles I did not like the feel and I had to break too much etc.

$1200 LOL:)

Do you really want to know?

Most of the good bumpers for off roading (those that increace both ground clearance and departure in a big way) start or I should say started at the time at about 1,700 1,800. And that is only a tire no ladder etc. + the shipping cost

Luke builds or starts his for about 1,800 and now shipping for me.

Mine with the ladder, highlift holder, light tabs and extra side protection was more like 2,100 to 2,200.

It was hard to do but it is very  and the work is like a pice of art.

I did the tyler approach and Rhino lined the area on the roof...this is a permanant fix...ie no leaks ever...and will give a nice pad if I strap stuff to the roof in a pinch.

It all looks good and you got a good thing going all around. Congrats and keep it up!

You cranked that out in like 20 seconds didn't you?

:D

Nice rig Sam and Tree!
I look forward to our next trip to the creek...hopefully it'll be a little less crowded.
