I must have missed the completed rear bumper thread cause that's the first time I've seen it. Could you get some more shots of that?

It'll be fun to put some more mileage on some of those great tools you have, especially that plasma!

yep... time to finally put some of the tools I've been hording over the last few years to use. I finally feel comfortable with my tool collection and mechanical knowledge to take this project on. I also know you live somewhat close so if I need someone to bail me out, I can beg you for pointers! :)

I can snap some more pics of the rear bumper... I'm pretty happy the way it turned out. The bumper literally saved some body damage and a end over end roll on my last attempt on lil' rubicon in TSF. First I tipped left into that huge rock and then almost tipped backwards when I got off the throttle but the hitch I added pretty much saved me from going all the way over by digging into a rock. I wish I had video of it... that's a tough one when its wet and muddy.

How's the cliche go? Something like fools lead by fools . There are plenty with a bunch more knowledge but I'm willing to help when you need a hand. Are you sticking with leaves or jumping into linking it?

some what in the air right now... but the the D60 is already set up for a 4 link and has the lower coil buckets (sorta). Pretty tempting to at least link the front since the axle is already set up for it and I happen to be sitting on 9ft of 2 3/8 .500 DOM.

I'd agree with that. At least a mock fitting to see if those brackets can be used as-is under your rig. That would almost make it easy. I assume you've been reading up on the pirate linking tech. Going full hydro and links you could place that axle pretty far forward but your sheetmetal and 42s are probably going to limit that. Time to relocate the batteries! I got to come over just to see what ideas are bouncing around in your head!

I just really got the idea of linking the front into my head... I was just going to outboard the leaf springs like Sixty did but knowing myself I would just tear it apart again in a few months to link it. Know any good threads over there on linking? I think I have the link to the 4link calculator somewhere but I think on this project it'll be more like "making it fit calculator".

I haven't studied linking enough to suggest anything you probably don't already know and others with more experience will have to chime in when you get to that part, but I think you're right about the "making it fit calculator." I think your tranny and doubler/tcase will need to be set up first as angles off of those will help determine axle set-up.

That's the best front fender tube job shot of that rig I've seen. I like the idea and the lines, maybe just not as drastic.

I had an idea for getting a curve on the rear inner wells. You could cut and extend them with trailer fenders. Then you're not limited to the factory wells and can place the axle far enough back so that you don't have to play with the rear door. You might not need a bob job then and you'd have more room inside for that 42" spare.

Agreed, that front fender is too drastic but there is something to it that I like... just needs to be revised a bit. I really need to get the axle under there with the new tires and see where I'm at... then I can start thinking more about linking and tubing.

I wanted to go with the ORD doubler but NWF makes a "clockable" doubler set up so I went with that knowing that my angles would be tight. I think I'll have my buddy tig up the NWF doubler when I get the angles set to eliminate the chance of the bolts backing out. I've only heard of a couple problems of this happening but tigging it should eliminate the chances of that happening. I'll have to see if that's a real possibility when the kit get here though.

Got my 42" pitbull rockers ordered... should be here in about a week and my NWF 203/205 doubler, triple sticks, upgraded 205 front ouput shaft, 1350 yokes also ordered and should be here in another week or two.

I should also add... I do realize putting this much time, effort, and money into a FJ-60 is completely insane and absurd. Money would have been much better spent on a more capable platform.

However, I'm stuck with her... and I like it!

Other than the weight & long ass end, what else would be cooler?

thanks guiys... I'll do my best to take lots of pics along the way and keep this updated. I'm hoping to have everything all buttoned up before snow hits the ground!

WOW guess I gota get mine in the shop again ... keep the pics comin cant what to see more..... link it front and rear or you'll always wish you had  dont ask :grinpimp:

you know my Bobbed 60 kicked alot of "better" built jeeps and a buggy out at Tree's ranch so build it... we need more hard core 60's to set everyone else right :steer:
