mobi, you have one of the cleanest well put together rigs around. I look toward to seeing your rig on rotw. We might have different ideas on what a 60 should look like but I have a great deal of respect with what you've done with yours.

Nice write up Zack. This rig is truly a beast! You have to see it up close and personal to fully appreciate it. It gives us all goals to strive for, and makes some us look so "underbuilt". to ya' man. Look forward to getting on the trail, and completely out wheeled by you.

Oh, maybe I worded that poorly - I love your rig! The first time I saw it I couldn't believe how "right" it looked with the 39s, perfectly propotioned. Sorry if that came out wrong...

Dude, I didnt take that the wrong way at all! My point was just that everyone has different goals and uses for their rigs.

Very nice write up. I would love to be able to do anything close to that with mine. But my wife is not quit as understanding:crybaby:. The rig looks great. Would love to see it sometime.

So to move the front axle forward you just redrill the u bolt plates and then move the axle forward one hole in the perch? My perchs had 3 positions in them which I assume are for axle position?

Dylan

Most people just redrill the spring pack. My rear springs are flipped backwards and redrilled back another inch or so. I believe Man-a-not free or SOR a sells a plate that also can relocate the axle on the spring packs.

Were the half doors pretty straight forward to make? Anything that you would do different? Rig looks great. I'll take that toybox off your hands, if you're done with it...:D.

This pic is great. Is this at Goat Mountain?

Yep, sure is... that's in the rock quarry up there. Fun little place to play especially in the snow.

As far as the doors... I really didnt have any clue what I as doing when I started. The first one took me awhile but each one after that got faster and faster.

Here's the thread on the half doors. I suppose if I would go back and do it again I would have spent a little more time making sure that the cuts on the outside of the door and the inside of th door lined up better. It made for some "creative" sheetmetal work.

Thanks, do you ever make it to any of the cascade cruiser meetings? We have them every 3rd thursday of the month at Buster's BBQ. I usually drive the cruiser to work and to meeting on those days.

No, I haven't ever made it. I have been on the forum, and knew when and where. Just hard to find the time. I will try to make it in feb, I will be in California working during this month's meeting.

brokenparts; this is a very nice write-up on a super nice truck. I appreciated all the pictures, and the way you included the family and even the neighbor kid in on the fun!

As an aside, sometimes the language on our MUD threads gets a little edgy. Thanks for the clean write-up here. Because of this, I was able to show the thread to my son.

You are a true asset to the MUD community.

Having seen the rig in person I too think it is well proportioned. The 39s fit well and look right. I still can't wait to wheel with you, hopefully soon. How are you liking having an auto on the trail?

Thanks, having kids myself I try to watch my mouth as much as possible. I slip every now and again but I do my best. :) Honestly, I could not have got this far with my 60 if it werent for ALL the valuable info I have found here. I like to try to help others as much as possible for the things I've learned along the way and what has worked for me. Just when I think I've got things pretty well figured out, I'll open up a new thread like boots4 "family haulin" thread and realize I've got a long long way before I do get things figured out. Threads like that keep me motivated to learn more and build more (much to my wife's dismay).

I cant wait to see Your beast out on the trail!

Having an auto on the trail is like cheating. If you combine that with a doubler, life gets even easier. No more fiddling with the clutch or trying to grab gears.... Just aim and shoot. Very nice for both slow and technical sections and for just lighting up the tires to make it over a snowy or muddy hill. I'll never do any kind of serioius wheelin again without an auto. My orginial plan was to go with an sm465 but "W" let me know I was a moron not to go with the TH350. I considered a 700r4 39.5s and 4.56s I doubt I would have actually ever really utilized the overdrive.

Bring on the cheating! Just hope I can pass the test (complete the rebuild).

It might be funny to get an "easy button" from Staples and put it on the dash.
