The rack cabinets were 30" deep and I'm thinking the servers were 28" deep. Might not be able to check until Monday.

@mudking82 43qt bottom measurement 11 3/8" X 11" , so I don't think 2 gallon milk jugs will fit but perhaps 2 gallon Arizona ice tea jugs might.

if memory serves m correctly they're about 5.75" square so they "might" fit together on the longer side, wouldn't allow for any expansion sideways though so don't fill them full!

when I need to use my fridge for a trip -rare as those are unfortunately- I deepfreeze gallon jugs (originally of of apple juice, forgot the brand, that uses very strong jugs of thick plastic (and yes I think similar to some iced tea jugs IIRC) so they resist freezing very well, although I freeze them in 2 installments, flipping them around so they don't bulge too much). The jugs fit just great in my 63L fridge and will typically stay partially frozen for something like a week. Great source of cold water if it's really hot out there too and/or a last ditch reserve. One can never have too much water out there. The jugs fit great either vertically or horizontally.
Also, I put some support under the mesh basket if I'm going to load the basket with a lot of heavy stuff so it doesn't deform too much. I'm using some thin plastic tubing for that.

What fuse size do you use? My 1 day old Whynter 65 qt. burned the 5A fuse although the spec said 4.5A. It has been fine with the 7.5A fuse.

I added 5 cig oultets and they share a 20A off my bluesea safey hub that's tapped to my aux batt thru a 150A breaker. I've ran the fridge, 250w inverter, gps, phone, tablet, two 800w amps, and a mono 500w amp with out issues and started with the stock alternator until the sequoia alt mod a couple months ago.

I'm running a 15amp.

I have a 40 Amp near the battery and the fridge plug (Marinco) has a 10 amp. Your fridge may spike over 5 amps when it turns the compressor on. 7.5 or 10 amp should be safe.

Thank you all

What temp for beer and ice cream? My plug came loose from the socket and all the ice cream melted. I had it set at 30 not sure if that is cold enough for ice cream.

I'd run it at round 16 minimum to keep thinks frozen, I run the deep freeze at just below 0 just so I can weather thru small outages without losing a freezer full of meat.

Ice cream will stay nice and frozen around 0°F, but so will your beer. :o That plug that comes with the fridge isn't great. I installed a marinco plug and outlet, but if I didn't plan on running the fridge in my other vehicle as well, a flat bi-pole connection would work great I think.

I will try that and see how it does at that temp

I meant 2 settings for different needs at different times.

I would set it only a bit below freezing for ice cream on the road. Just enough that you're sure it doesn't melt (and even then if you like milk shakes it's not too bad I guess...). The lower the temp setting the more the fridge is going to gobble power. Not a big problem if the engine is running but not great if you're parked. I'd rather have a wireless temp alarm in the fridge as a precaution -which will serve you well all the time even for non-frozen food- than have your icecream supercold for a while and then a dead battery.

But yes, a big issue with fridges that don't have a good dual temps system (are there any good ones?) is indeed it's either everything frozen or not. I guess one could attempt to play a bit with temperature stratification but that's not really very practical.

Good tips , Im now looking into getting a EdgeStar 43 Qt fridge when they go on sale.

They don't go on sale per say you have to keep looking for the open box or scratch and dents to be in stock and then be quick to grab one when they are. Links posted on first page.

Now I'm wondering if I shouldn't also have one of these when I go camping to plug into my inverter on the way there for fresh ice in my drinks!

LOL, Your killing me man!

I know right?!

I have a 400w inverter that would run it on the way out and the part about having ice cubes in 6 minutes grabbed my attention! Would be really cool to have fresh ice on demand for my "ice tea" at the camp site.

Anyhow I'm not getting one right now, the CVT roof tent group by starts in 5 days and I've got to get in on it this year, saving $418.50 on the Shasta is a must for me. Maybe if I didn't get the $109 snorkel I would have grabbed it but I'll be out of discretionary income after the RTT.

The next thing on the list is a pair of Rocky Mountain sliders so the ice maker is going to have to wait.

While the price was good I wish I would have spent the money on either an Engel which I would not expect to fail in a couple years or a Yeti cooler which will never fail. Now I have an expensive and heavy storage bin in the garage that not good for anything.

Here was my solution to cheap and easy handles (spectra climbing rope loops) while it worked.
