oil light is low oil level and it's the dash gauge that counts as far as pressure is concerned. Over heating can be any number of things, fan clutch is a big contender in that regard.
Head gasket, with the exception of my first 80, they all get a new one before it's even registered.
I'd go look at it, if the body and interior are in good shape and oil pressure builds on startup, play up the oil light and over heating and offer him 6000 and if accepted tow it home and get after it.
