Got the axle back under the 40 this morning. A milestone any time something goes back on for good! It’s starting to look like something now.

Having found center on the steering box, I cut the relay rod to length and welded the thread bungs in place.

Started looking into what I need to do to get the hydro assist installed. Found the weld on brackets and heim joint ends and dry fit everything together. And will be figuring out where it will mount.

I was going back and forth if I was going to use the inside snap ring on the birfields or not. I decided to go with a Martack and call it good, it will help with making trail repairs a bit easier.

I was going to finish the assembly of the front axle today but it will have to wait for another day.

Today I got the knuckle rebuild buttoned up. One side is complete minus the locking hub, the other side needs 3 wheel studs before I can finish it off the list. Tomorrow the front should be on the ground with a set of rollers, a milestone for sure as it has not been on the ground in months!
Once again, love working with new/clean parts! Thanks again to Georg at Valley Hybrids for supplying the parts for this build, without Georg, Rob and the metal master guy himself, FC, I would not be able to do any of this!!!

There is still a lot to do, but making progress.

Looks like a work of art!

Finished off the assembly of the front axle, slapped a set of rollers on it and put it on ground for the first time in months. The rear axle housing will be getting yanked out, cleaned and painted. Assembly should go much quicker, hoping to have all 4 tires on the ground next week.

While waiting for paint to dry in the house, I snuck into the garage for a little therapy. ARB installed and torqued down, a big thank you to Georg Esterer and Valley Hybrids for setting up the gears and furnishing the ARB. Waiting on axle bearings and seals to finish it off.

After a pretty lengthy hiatus from everything, I’m back and I’ve jumped right into wiring. Electrical is not my thing so we will see how this plays out.

I mounted the fuse block to driver side a-pillar, close to where the factory mounted them. I’m routing the headlight, engine and tail sections through the existing hole above the brake booster.

I need to order the firewall grommet and some braided loom to protect the harness and make it look as clean as possible.

Harbor freight has braided loom for cheap….

Ok, no doctor appointments today, so I got to spend a few hours doing some wiring on Morty. Really hated to cut up the dash but since I am using rocker switches I had no choice. I opted for an 8 switch panel and 4 power point options.

As far the wiring goes, I have been taking my time and focusing on one task at a time. Every once in a while my A.D.D. kicks in and all I see is a big mess of spaghetti, I get stressed out and have to walk away for few minutes. The hardest part so far has been stuffing the harness in the braided split loom and routing everything in a way that makes sense and trying to keep it looking clean.

Next up will be mounting and wiring the compressor and running air lines for the air lockers and tire fill air chuck. Slowly marking things off the to do list.

FC cage- Im on the wrong side of the country...

Wiring is not my thing, I take 1 step forward 10 steps back. ARB switches are wired (because the harness is premade), mounted the air pressure gauge and fuel gauge in the dash. I picked up an ARB compressor and fill kit for a great price on OfferUp.

I have the gauge harness the way I need it, I go to put it in and the upper gauges hit the dash support, so tomorrow I will modify it to accept the gauges and panel.

I had an auto meter fuel gauge in the garage, 0-90ohm, I had to order a new sender, it will be here tomorrow.

Lots of things to hopefully complete tomorrow! I need to control the A.D.D. and focus on just one thing and not jump all over the place!
