I'm pretty sure those parts I linked are B/C/D. I just looked at my rails which are off my three-mounting-foot '98 at the moment. Its forward hole is the same as the last pic in post #44. In other words, mine is A/C/D.

Comparing mine with the pics on Partsouq, I can see that the first cutout on theirs is in the B position, which is what you want. Side note, the C position hole is longer and the corresponding cover (which you won't use) is a different part number from the other two, whereas on my A/C/D they are all the same length and cover.

By the way both LC and LX came with two and three foot options in various years, sometimes even in the same year it seems. This particular rail is for a late model, three foot.

Hmm, very interesting. Now that I'm looking at it a bit closer, I think you're right.

And yes, my kit has the extra long C feet. I was actually wondering why they were like that when I was first looking at them.

I'm going to order these and report back as soon as I get them. Thank you again!

Edit: Just ordered. With any luck, I'll have the mouldings by the end of the week.

Here's how I handled the exposed area where the A mounting points are. I bought a couple of the plastic inserts to cover the openings where the factory rack mounted. I cut the section of metal trim needed to uncover the B mounting points, which you'll have to do anyway. I then measured the length needed for the cut piece of trim to overlap the window trim and tuck beneath the B mounting post. I also got really anal and removed a couple of the trim clips glued in the channel somewhere in the middle of the roof. I cleaned them up and glued them toward the front to give the new pieces something to clip onto. But I think some thick double stick tape or glue would work as well. Finally, I had to dremel a small area on the window trim to tuck the plastic cap into. If you go this route you'll see where you need to trim to get everything to work together. Had it this way since last summer. No issues. Should have done photos while figuring this out. Hope it makes sense.

@Qtonic Just a quick update. I got the mouldings from PartSouq yesterday and it's exactly what I wanted! They have the B/C/D cutouts. Thanks for your help, dude. If you're ever in the LA area, let me know. I owe you a beer.

Now I'm wondering... since the factory rail options were A/C/D or B/D, I wonder why Toyota has these mouldings in a B/C/D configuration? Were there ever any OEM rails that used the B/C/D mounting points? I could never find anything. Or did Toyota come out with these because they knew that aftermarket companies would utilize this configuration (seems unlikely?).

Also, quick note on PartSouq. When I bought the mouldings, I didn't realize that PartSouq was based in Dubai. I thought it would take longer to receive them, but they came super quickly and were packaged really, really well. Their prices also seem to be much cheaper than other places. I'll definitely order from them in the future.

Awesome. Glad I didn't lead you astray! I'll take you up on that beer someday.

I'm showing a three foot roof rail that used B/C/D in some markets from April 2007-on. It might have also been the filler for non-rails models starting that same time. I assume Toyota's decision was made independent of third party considerations. Given the various options they supplied over the years it seems they were constantly refining the look or integrity, or maybe just wanted variety.

Partsouq has been good to me. I've ordered about $5k over the last year including a wood-crated windshield that I'm almost certain they must have lost money on shipping. They're a good resource for sure.

Cheers 🍻

Does anyone know if the RCL legs will work on the LC100? I like the lower profile but don't know if the curvature of the roof will make the vortex bars too close to the roof surface. Any help would be appreciated! Looking at picking these up today!

I was looking into this a while back, and reach out to rhino. They seemed to think that they would not work. I have the RCH legs and can pull some measurements of you want.

I think it may just be too low. Which is crazy to think that is possible but I think I need at least 2" below the bar to get the quick disconnect clamps for my roof cargo box under the bars and allow for a tiny bit of flex when loaded and going over a bump. They seem like a really great option. I want the 59" width to get some more real estate for a road shower cargo box traction devices and a shovel. I think it'll all fit up there. Now just to decide if I should drop the extra 200 bucks on 3 bars instead of 2... Someone else took measurements of the RCH in one of the pages on this thread and it looks like ~2,5-3" above the roof surface to the bar.

Thanks for your help! I may just go with the RCH feet and the 59" black aluminum bars.

Also, with a 100 series 2001 with 2 factory mounting points for the OEM side rails (no middle one) are these the right parts? And do I need the replacement gutter trim piece I saw in this thread or is that just easier than cutting out the existing middle mounting holes and sealing around the unused holes? Any advice would be much appreciated! Theres a lot of projects in the hopper and ongoing so trying to minimize the amount of time I spend futzing with this one. Plug and play is always preferable!!

These say they are not confirmed to fit a 2001 LC 100 but that could be a mistake on etrailer's part...

I think I need 3 of these bars

and one pack of 6 for 3 bars

My LX only had two factory rack mounts, but the third (and fourth) are still up there. I used the mounting points 2,3,4 starting from the front, and didn't need to trim or replace and trim. To use point 1 on the LX I would have had to trim the trim... :)

Do those adapters that I linked to match up to what you used?

Thanks for all of your help @Lalalx470

I just had a bad realization that sunk a lot of my plans, but maybe saved me 650$ today. The fixed points of these rails aren't going to match up with my cargo box quick disconnect locations :( and if they can't move and the box's attachment points can't move, I need adjustable bars. Any ideas for t'slotted aero style bars on adjustable rails??

These look like a cheap option... DO you think I need to go expensive on this if I'm using the factory mounting points and the factory side rails?

I went with the 3 bar for my RTT so didn't need specific bar placement, and wanted the weight rating, 300lbs vs factory ~150lbs. Those will probably work if the weight isn't an issue

@mookamatook , I’ll try to answer your questions.

1) yes the RCL feet should work. I have them mounted in the B, C, and D positions (per RR specs) with a 76” x 54” Pioneer platform. To go a little deeper, there is a 15mm height difference between the RCL and RCH legs. If you find that the RCL’s are a bit too low, just get the leg height spacers. It may cost a bit more in the end but you won’t be out the cost of the legs. And you have to option to make them as low as possible.

2) every 100 series LC and LX have 4 mounting points per side. Just use the b, c, and d options. (I think this has been covered)

3) if you need the bars to be adjustable fore and aft, you really only have 2 options.
A) like you mentioned, get any brand of bars made to fit raised factory rails.
B) go big and get the Pioneer platform. They make crossbars that slide fore and aft in the tracks of the platform. I have a set and they work really slick. It allows me to use my Thule ski cargo box. The Thule box does have some adjustability in the feet though.

I hope that helps.

I pulled a RHINO RACK, Pioneer Platform #42104B, at 84" x 56" off my Excursion prior to selling it for salvage.

Your thread flicked a switch to determine if we could reuse it on my '05 LX 470...

I just got off the phone with Rhino Rack and they suggested the following Part Numbers for the '05 LX 470:

1 @ Base Kit, Part# RSP02-BK
1 @ Locking Legs, Part# RCH6
3 @ Quick Mounts Heavy Duty, Part# QMHD05

They also suggested finding the Overall Part Kit, Part# JA9414 to pull down the installation instructions...

That look right. RCP02-BK vs RSP02-BK though. What feet did you use on the Excursion?

Like I mentioned in my last post, the RCL6 leg kit will work too. The platform will just be 15mm closer to the roof of the truck. This is one of the main reasons I went with the Pioneer platform. I like being able to put it on a different vehicle with just the purchase of a fit kit.

Here is my installation.

Thank you for all of this! So helpful. Unfortunately, funds are low at the moment so I will likely keep on using my factory rack and rig up something that will work but still be a little bit of a hassle for this year or get some universal cross rails for raised side rail installation. THat Malone product I linked to is stupid cheap compared to the thule and yakima and inno options and seems like it is pretty well built for the money, its a little clunky design-wise but I may be able to live with that knowing that I can replace the thing 2x before I get to the asking price of the others.

I think I may need things to be/stay adjustable fore/aft to hit the dimensions I self-imposed. I started with a system that was based around my weird old cargo box. It is freagging awesome, aerodynamic, and a well built machine but it has started to determine a lot of dimensions on the roof area (for better or worse). I think I'm going to run with it. Started building up a system that houses a 160W solar panel and some good integrated cargo management solutions inside/outside that I don't want to give up on just yet in pursuit of a better roof rack system..

That said, if I had the money, I'd be buying a frontrunner slimline, a alucab k9, or a pioneer tray.

Quick Mount Leg (x4) Part# RLT600 and Quick Mount Leg (x2) Part# RLT600H with the HD Spacers 5mm (x6) Part# QMHD05. Back in '17 the entire Kit cost me, $1,297.50.

Just to confirm, the RCL6 legs work fine. I used them to mount the 76*49 pioneer platform.

To go from the legs to the platform, you'll need the QMPS-10 (spacers that come two in a pack)

View attachment 2304566

Just a heads up for those running wider platforms. The QMPS-10 spacers are only needed if you run the 49" wide version of the Pioneer platform. Anything wider than that width will not require them, just the QMHD05 spacers. The QMHD spacers come in 5mm increments (QMHD05, QMHD10, QMHD15....) and you can use those to gain extra height when running the RCL legs.
