It's the weirdest thing how it moves. It can flex so freely and then still feel more stable in other situations. Nice work
So true. I took it to bend this weekend and found some snow and it’s amazing how well it works now. Doing the 3 and 4 link before was a massive increase in performance but this is a big bump. I’m super impressed.

I took the cruiser out this weekend for a shake down run and managed to find a good bit of snow. Didn’t take much pictures but it was a good day. Met up with a group in Bend Oregon and trailered to the staging area and we went up into the mountains from there. There was a large group of us around 17 rigs but we managed to find some leaves places to play around and do some hill climbed and even a few down trees and rocks to crawl over. Around 2 most of the group left and the remaining 6 of us were on 37s and up and went and tried to push to a lake at higher elevation. We never made it there and I’m not even sure how deep the snow was but I was sinking to my hips and I wasn’t at the bottom.

Overall I’m super impressed with how the coilovers have improved the ride think works flawless and the milestar MT02s did phenomenal aired down to 3 PSi.

also today I got some gears in the mail! I’m very excited for these. I already have 3.1:1 low range gears and 10% reduction high range but with these 4.88s it should really help! The rig has always done decent with 4:10s but that’s only because of the low end torque and I will get a lot back with these.

Well it turned out it’s a good thing I got those new gears. While getting my new project into the driveway using the winch, I was repositioning the 80 and the rear bound up and acted weird but there was also a couple pops that was odd. I’ll add the rear when I get driveshaft bind it drives the body into the ground and the rear up and it seamed stuck. I think this is because later while on jackstands I noticed my driveshaft was fairly bend. So I held the brake and pushed on the throttle to try and get it to drop back down. Nothing excessive I felt. After a loud bang my wife heard with her noise canceling AirPods in while in our house I now had some not so great noises that appeared to be in the front end.

I did some investigating and found on jack stands and in drive the front and rear would turn while in gear but occasionally there would be a pop and some gear skipping sounds and the front would stopping spinning but the driveshaft would continue.

Found this shard on the fill plug as well.

I’ll see if I can get the drain plug off over the weekend but that has smeared metal all over it.

That sucks, but at least it happened in your driveway!! What's up with that ring gear?

*Nevermind, I was blind without my contacts in this morning. Just realized the packing foam was sticking through. Im an idiot!! lol

You can definitely set them up yourself. LOTS of threads/vids out there, just take your time and when you do get pissed, walk away for a bit. Throwing tools doesn't make it any better.... lol

So I haven’t updated this thread in a hot minute! Well work got the best of me for a lot of wheeling last year then I broke my foot right as I got things to slow down. But since I posted I picked up a new project! It’s a 79 Chevy luv and I bought it last January.

After I scrapped what I didn’t use I spent a whole $50 for it! I’ll make another post showing where I’ve done and where it is after this one.

I also went to Moab with some buddies and had a great time for a week and managed to not brake anything but splitting some batteries and having them leak all over.

Plus attending the Rubithon event! And I will say it was so much fun! I’m planning on attending this year as well although I need to work out the logistics as I have a work trip part of the week prior and my kids birthday all packed together.

Her s a few pics of the current build. Like

I said it’s a 79 Chevy luv. I got it super cheap and everyone will have to forgive me for not getting a Toyota but $100 for a mini truck was to tempting.

Its body is rough and has a patina but that’s what I wanted.

I cut the cab and firewall out and basically only kept the skins. This was my first tube chassis I’ve built and I’ve had to change a few thing but over all it’s been pretty good atleast as far as building off of it.

These were a marketplace find for $2k

Now as it sits today… minus I got PRP seats that showed. It’s obviously a Chevy luv. It has Coilovers and bypasses on all corners. They are Fox 2.5s and 16” travel. It’s a full tube chassis I made and I have an atlas 4 speed with the 3:1 main case leaving an around a low low of 8:1. It has a sterling 10.5 I’ll be shaving and have the kit once I pull axles to do gears and a Dana 60. The Dana 60 and Th400 came from @Firemedic831 . It’s powered by a 5.3 LS and I’m running twin turbos cause I don’t brake enough. It’s on 42s and 20” raceline wheels. There’s plenty more but that’s the general idea of where it’s at currently.

Can't wait to see the Luv out in the wild . JV for Thanksgiving ?
I would really like to make that happen! My
Plan is to have it done for hammers next year. I hope I make that and my ambitious goal is rubithon but I have my doubt there even if halfway done form. But we will see. If I sell some stuff I could probably get the money for the parts needed to finish it. Which is mostly lockers and gears.

Those Luvs are tiny cabs, you fit in that thing ?
Honestly it’s a tight fit! I’m tall and definitely have a good few pounds extra I should take off but still. That said so far yeah I fit. Passenger will be shoulder to shoulder and the firewall will be pushed out a couple inches in the footwell. I’m considering removing the rear wall also and sliding the seats Back a little also.
