Recovering fairly well. Hoping to get third members installed and front and rear put back together by end of weekend. Still waiting on rest of parts from the 40 trade. Might hold off on installing H55 and 2F until after pig party. Feels like I’m cutting things too close. Need at least 2 months of shake down runs before a 1,000 mile jaunt.

Funny how regardless of actual age we all think “ pffft I got this!”

Glad it wasn’t more serious, git her driving and put a smile on!

Pretty nice temps here today. Managed to get my 3:70 third members in . Hopefully have the wheels back on for the first time in almost 18 months. Then I can roll it forward to the lift to address the rust from below. Just trying to get roadworthy at this point. Was cleaning the cab out and found an old speaker stuck to firewall. No wiring, just stuck by the magnet. Took it down and found this flash from the past. Wonder how long someone’s been looking for it. “ Wow man I know I left it somewhere in here”

Some PO “fixed” the rotting rockers. Cut outside off and replaced with curved sheet metal , which extended into a front fender patch. Doesn’t look bad from a distance. I’m trying to fix the floor rot, body mounts and cross supports. Looking from underneath I can see what’s left of the inner rockers that need to come out. These superficial spruce ups, sure take a different turn quickly. Getting closer to a restore rather than a refresh. The driver side “rocker” was held in place with a rod connected to the skid plate.

Well after a 4 month hiatus, looks like may be getting closer to some garage time. Amazing how many cobwebs are present on Coyote. With this much downtime, I’ve decided to put one of my OM617 diesels in front of the H55F transmission. Took a whole different approach thanks to quiet time away from the garage. My wife continues to get better, which is why I can daydream.

It is good news. Healing brains is a much slower process than the rest of our bodies. She’s asking me to take her to the shop with a computer, and parking her there while I work. Quite the partner! Might try it this week.

Been collecting parts this last couple of weeks. Better grill than I currently have, an instrument cluster in nice shape, and a front bumper with frame extensions. Big thanks to@wngrog for the bumper!

Started disassembly a couple of days ago. Got the grill off and hood removed. Broke fender bolts loose then soaked in pb blaster. Hoping I don’t break any off, but I know there’s a good chance. Picked up a set of VW bug turn signals for my “new to me” fenders. Using the ones from my ‘78, it will get the fiberglass ones I scored. I liked the way the VW signals look on Delancy’s rig.

Some PO was creative in turn signal placement on Coyote. I think the rubber mat on top of both fenders is indicative of a LOT of metal missing. I’ll bet the VW signals looked good on your 40 Ron. Only broke 2 bolts in fender removal so far.
