i stayed busy getting the knuckle and t-case parts cleaned up. started with some old crusty fj62 hubs and rotors. i got new rotors so i pulled the old set off the hubs and got them ready for paint after removing the old bearing races, solvent tank, bead blaster and parts washer. painted them late today even though it was raining but it got just warm enough for the paint job to run out ok. i'll press the studs thru next week and will post more pics. :)

Nice Blast cabinet!

it definetly helps, that's for sure. i'm constantly trying to update my tools so i can be as self sufficient as possible. the wish-list is still pretty long though.....:wrench:

This is why s*** takes you so long to complete

no doubt!

nothing wrong with spending the better part of a day tearing apart an axle and cleaning it up. sure makes re-assembly more rewarding.:)

thanks dylan, feels good to finally work on my own rig again..........

"Baby come back":hillbilly:

did'nt get anything done tuesday evening cause i pinched a nerve in my neck late last week. still dealing with it but at least i'm working again. multiple trips to the chiropractor and more coming up. they'd better get me put back together.

i did get a little work done, some here, some there. mostly t-c clean-up and prep work.

so tonight i stayed late at the shop. greenfox came down to give me a hand. i have a brand new AA ( mark's adapter ) for mating the th700 to the split case. the only thing missing are the instructions. go figure. but how hard can it be? i've done a few over the years so i thought i'd wing it. a couple of things did'nt make sense at first but after a couple of "dry runs" (assembling the partial t-case without seals, gaskets or sealants ) i had it all figures out and assembly began.
here's a before pic:

as usual, i had stripped down the donor t-case, ran it thru the parts washer, bead blasted some of the parts and painted them. i also wire-wheel anything threaded just to make sure the threads are clean and there won;t be any issues when things get bolted back together. doing so takes extra time but it makes assembly a cinch.

after about an hour, we were roughly half done and things were going well.

decided to take a little break and bbq some hot links. had some chips and an ice tea and got back to work. about an hour later the case was 90% done. i wqs getting pretty tired ( my lovely son has yet to realize that you're supposed to sleep at night ) so i decided to call it a night after cleaning up the tools.

i did get some more goodies delivered via UPS today. some billet trickery from marlin. stay tuned till next week and hopefully we'll get started on the front axle although it still needs a bunch of grinding before we start the cut-n-turn. the rest of the parts are here and ready to go so now it's just a question of getting the work done.

finished product for tonight:

Looking purdy G. Nice job of keeping the Greenfox in line and out of trouble.

Good to see you getting back on her, Georg. Are you going to try to have it ready for Rubithon? Or are you thinking of some other rig?

thanks kent. :)

i'm trying to have it done for rubithon this year but i'm not going to be heart-broken if it's not. i have sooooo much on my plate right ow that i don't want to add more stress by setting an absolute deadline.

if it gets done in time, then great. i think it's doable if i can spend 3-4 solid nights a month on it. FC and greenfox are helping out which is a big plus as well.

i still need about $3k worth of parts to finish the project the way i want it built, not including paint. i guess i'd better go and actually try to make some money. LOL :wrench:

so let's keep our fingers crossed.

You will get it put togethter in time for rubiton, It will take some long nights and a few BBq's but you can do it:beer:
