I can also verify that the Ranger has a pilot tip that is 0.590". And so does the H42 that's bolted behind it.

OK, the pilot bearing is correct.

I went home for lunch,and found a Summit Racing box on my porch. Grabbed the pilot bearing out, and knew it was correct at first glance (big difference in the specs I found online (22mm?) and 15mm (it's clearly the smaller dimension).

But I measured it anyway, and here's a pic:

So if you're skimming the thread, and wondering what I'm going on about regarding this bearing...well, it's listed in multiple places online to be THE bearing you use when using an old-style transmission behind a Vortec truck motor (typically a 5.3).

But there's also a number of places listing the specs incorrectly...even Jegs.com -->

(the correct ID is 15mm, or .590")

Anyway, this might all be better suited for a 'vortec swap thread' - I might start a new one to document my "V8 to V8" swap, make the info easier to search for later, for others to use.

Please throw some speed parts at that motor. Everyone who is doing these LS swaps are just leaving them stock! Even me!
