I'd love to see any examples you have. I drove a BJ45 about 5 or 6 years ago and it was a pig. I figured I'd pull out on the road with plenty of room for the distant car behind me.... By the time I made it to 4th gear, I was doing about 35 mile an hour and the car was having a fit behind me. I HATED IT! Gave e a sore spot about the diesels.

Check my build thread (link is in my signature line) you definitely want a turbo version. I personally recommend 6 cylinders. I could not be more pleased with my 12HT. If you would like to meet face to face PM me for contact info.

Hey guys! Anybody out there have a stash of hardware they could spare? I need as many nuts and bolts and washers as I can get my hands on. The 45 was missing hardware after going through the New England detour. 20 years ago when I had taken part of it apart, I kept those bolts but have used them all up over the years. Now it's biting me in the butt. With the entire front end off, I know I'll need all that hardware. The seats are out, I'll need that hardware. The tailgate is off, I'll need those... You get the drift. I don't want to rebuild with metric bolts with SAE heads on them and I want what looks original even if it's not.

HELP!

I have a ton of used hardware. All kidding aside I easily have 15 pounds of used TLC fasteners.

Are you willing to part with a few pounds or so? Assorted.

Just buy bolt kit that a few vendors sell. They are a correct cad gold with the right side heads on the bolts too. One of the best things I have every done.

Maybe I'll do both. why do they stop at 10m?

@Michael B, would you part with the larger stuff?

I have been driving my bj45 Troopy for a few years now and love the way it drives. I did turbo it and it actually scoots quite well. By the time I’m in 3rd gear in boost, easily doing 40 mph, 4th and I’m cruising at a comfortable 55mph! Is it fast, no, but it does what it needs to do and gets close to 30 mpg. With the turbo it will pull hills fine, just have to keep an eye on the egt’s.

A little update.

STPCHLD is coming along although slowed down a bit. The goal is to finish by the end of the month. I'm not sure I'll make it.

Whenever it is finished, right behind it is MY45AGN. Really looking forward to it. I've got some different plans for it. (I'll clue you in when it gets started.) The neat thing about it is a good friend of mine wants me to do his truck and I'll me putting myself to the ultimate test and will build both trucks at the same time. THAT should be something! It'll take both buildings to pull it off. Disassembly in the barn and the rebuilds in the garage.

ETA, mid to late July.

Found it!

T-66.webp

What are the odds that a vehicle with -22803 VIN numbers (which falls in falls in Jan 1964) would be titled in 1966?

That seems impossible but that's what I have. Even with the T-66 copper tag! What gives? I don't have plates that go with the vehicle to verify.

So I guess you're saying that it sat for 5 years. Is that right? Coronado white was an ugly color...

Duuhhh. I was drunk and thinking '61 instead of January. My bad. Must've been TN math this morning.
