I'm LOOOONNNNG over due

Paint.

Color is 6H9.

The shop made a mistake...would like to know peoples thoughts. I did not want the inside lined. They are looking to see if it can be painted over. Too late now to have them fix it. I don't even know if I want them to try. It has taken them a long time just to get this far. BTW I replaced everything except the PACOL floor pan and wheel wells with Real Steal parts. New rear bed, new mid bed, new rockers, new sill, new outer quarters. Expensive hobby loving these old 40's

Body with liner. Just needs paint

What you say? Paint the inside or leave it black. I want it painted.

So I must have a quirky setting on my laptop. I type a lot of info and then I lose it and I get upset. So here is a little narrative of the last 6 months or so.

I replaced all the metal with new parts after I got it back to Colorado. I just was not satisfied with the work product. So I bit the bullet and I am much happier knowing I have a solid 40. My only regret is not just getting a new 3/4 tub. I am probably way over what a new 3/4 would have cost me. Anyway. I know now for the next time I restore a 40.

I also took all the parts I have por15'd other than the frame to a powder coater in Golden. The pewter and black parts turned out amazing. I am very impressed with how nice the tie rods, roll bar, radiator support and skid plates came out.
I am working on a few problems before I can fully assemble the engine compartment. I have to retap the manifold where the studs mount and retap a hole where the emissions cooler mounts. Once that is done I can really start bolting things up.

I really wanted to attend the Rising Sun meeting this last week, but had to be in Grand Junction that night. I am looking for some pros advice that are willing to help a rookie get this back on the road. I have lots of beer!

Anyway, I will be a lot more active here the next couple of months as I work to get this back on the road. Been a long time with the last 2 years it being back in Iowa.

Color looks great , I'd make them paint that interior and lose the black - it's going to attract dirt/stains pretty quickly . Make sure they know how to prep for paint on that liner material or the paint won't last long at all . Kudos going with Real Steel and fixing the tub instead of using a 3/4 new one - keeps it looking original .

The light is on at the end of the tunnel

I can't believe the day is finally here. My body is all complete. Rust repaired with new panels and fresh paint. Now I am simply going to enjoy putting it all back together and getting it back on the road as soon as possible.

Cheers! Today was a good day. Another LC lives.

Give a shout, I am up in Broomfield and would love to lend a hand if you need it. I need inspiration as mine is going to go under the knife one of these days. I am just trying to figure out how deep to go on the resto.

Looks great man, be proud.

Drew,

I could use all the hands possible at this point and would enjoy helping you with yours. I will get this back home middle of next week and then the fun begins. I will give you a shout and see if you are free later in July. I really want to attend a rising sun meeting and get to know more people around Colorado.

Very nice progress!! Keep the pics coming. I may be following you on the 77 resto with mine.

Colorado that looks awesome! I have my tub back and a bunch of other body panels and will dive into assembly this weekend. Any chance you can snap some photos of installing your wire harness for me? I did not disassemble my truck so reassembly will be reliant on the kind folks on this board. I'll send you a pm with my contact info.

Love the colour, love the heater blower. I bought the kit from Shane too....now I just need to make heater and blower look like yours.
