So what do you guys think about adding slee's 2" receiver system to this bumper. Has anyone done it to a Hanna bumper yet? I feel it would be the same as adding it to a slee bumper. I just have to cut a hole through it just the same. I really want to loose my Valley Ind. tow hitch and still have something, but with clearance.

It would probably work. Cruiserdan has an old write up somewhere on what he did to Slee's bumper to add the receiver before Christo offered the upgrade. It's a good write up as Dan doesn't do anything second rate.

OK, so I finished the bumper a couple of weeks ago and took it out on it maiden voyage Saturday with a few guys from SoCal 80's

So the first step in cleaning it up was stripping it all down and grinding away the rock rash and rust.

Then I took it into my work where I had the guys in the shop cut a hole in it for the Slee Receiver I plan to put in it later on. They also hammered out the dent that was in the bottom side of it just off center.

Then it ended up being a small fortune to get it sand blasted because they had it in the booth for a long time trying to get the thick A$$ powder coat off that Hanna has put on it.

Since this is the Budget Cruiser I am trying to save $$$ wherever I can so I decided to paint it myself with Hammerite rattle cans from Home Depot. Plus since I wanted to go Gray to match my rig better a gray powder coat would be kinda hard to touch up.

When it came time to put the bumper on, of course it couldn't just bolt right up. One side the holes would line up but the other would be off. So I had to enlarge the holes on one side with one of those drill pyramid things. Good thing my GF's brother works in construction for a living and loaned them to me.

Working at my slow pace and dealing with problems that came up I finally finished it at night fall. But this was everything, from wiring up the lights for the plate, fine tuning the latch clamp, and trying to put the tire swing on myself and scratching the paint. You know, stuff like that.

Well here is the finished product and thanks to Reid (LandCrusher70') for giving me his slee cover plate to cover up the hole for the slee receiver hitch.

And here is video from it's maiden voyage of me just about submerging it in water on Coyote Trail, the water was quite high this time. Oh and I'm not lifted yet. Thanks to Reid for the video.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8ePKCkeq9M

looks dam good. The rattle can paint looks sweet Nice job, it matches up nicley on your truck. How much was it to get it sandblasted if you don't mind me asking.

That's damn nice. Good job sticking to it and getting how you want it.

Yeah, the blasting was North of $200 but they said it was in the booth for a long time. And it was very clean when I got it back.

That hammerite paint is messy, I was lucky to have an empty 1 car garage to work in but man it leaves a black powder all over the place. Plus it seems to take a long time to dry! You literally have to wait a day or two before flipping it over to paint the other side.

Nice find!

very nice score!

congrats. it looks nice on the rig.

Nicely done!

Mark, before you painted the bumper, did you fix the dent that was in the bottom center of bumper, just curious...If you did, with what?

Those LED 'bolts' are bright.

The guys in the shop at my work did it, but I don't know what they used. The have some really big machinery out in the shop, it's an HVAC duct shop.

Those LED 'bolts' are bright.
Did you notice them when I drove off Saturday evening when you guys were airing up?

Just an update on the bumper. I was perusing eBay and came across a decent lighted LED license plate frame. It came with a light to light-up the plate and another light to be used as either a back-up light or 3rd brake light. But the best part of the plate was that the lights were removable from the frame. So this got me thinking of using just the LED light without the frame and upgrading the single LED bolt lights that I had previously.
So here is what I ended up with.

A little tough to see the difference in pics

And now I am currently selling the frame with the other LED light on CL for $40 to recoup some of the money I am into it for this mod. And if any of you are interested in the frame and light I will let it go to a MUD member for $30 plus the ride.
