Heck yea, but I can fix that with some krylon.

After looking it over really well at the fire station today I have come up with a list of things to fix:

7 pin mod and Add CDL switch - will order Monday

Wiper fluid diverter - will order Monday

Passenger seat fore and aft not working - ordered parts from Gamivivti

Need replacement center console - talking to a guy in Tulsa about one. Maybe someone (cough: Delancy: cough) can help out .

Other than these few things and a good cleaning of the headliner and a detail job, that's it. Well, and then there's that whole engine swap thing. Will retrieve it sometime this month.

Oh, and I found the factory tool tray with tools and the first aid kit. Does the tool tray have some type of cover?

Console and a hazard switch are on the way thanks to Andhop72 and Delancy. You guys rock!! Going to steam clean the engine and engine compartment this afternoon in prep for pulling the engine. ( and work on the zipline for my 10 yoa Bailey!

Are you guys talking about me? I thought I heard "some guy in Tulsa" it will be good to finally meet you Delancy looks like I should have taken that trip to Clayton and I would have met all you guys.

It was a fun trip. Lexie (as the girls have named her) got a very thorough steam cleaning under the hood this afternoon and is now prepped for pulling the engine. On all of the cars that I have worked on in the past, I have found that steam cleaning before I pull a head or engine makes it so much nicer to work on. I'll pull the engine and then steam clean the bay and the engine again while it is out and before I start swapping parts onto the 94 engine. Also cleaned the knuckles while I had the steam cleaner out! Thanks for all the help and info guys!

Did you truly "steam" clean or power wash? I'm having a hard time finding a steam cleaning outfit out here to clean under the rigs. May just have to rent one and bring it home for a day.

A steam cleaner is basically a super hot water heater with a pressure washer. You can almost do the same by hooking your pressure washer up to hot water from your laundry basin.

I will respectfully have to disagree on this, the steam cleaner that I use has a heated coil that the pressurized water passes through, this is heated by a diesel burner. actual steam is emitted from the end of the wand. From past experience I can tell you that the steam will take skin off.

I am on my phone right now so I can't see where you live, but you might try to find it oil field yard that might be able to let you use 1 for a small amount of time. I've also seen a couple of big rig truck shops that use them. they surely make working on the vehicles a lot cleaner and more enjoyable

Many cold water pressure washers these days specifically states NOT to use hot water with their pumps. I'm guessing that the cheap pumps won't be able to handle heated water.

That makes perfect sense. The one that I used sucked and only made hot water.

Thanks!

Any time you can get a used 4x4 for under $5,000 puts it in the beater class in my book. You wheel it hard and beat on it until it drops and then you get another. Lots of people are still fixated on the fact that they cost about $50,000 when new. It is the perfect truck for when PWT are moving up to WT.

I have to disagree. The condition of the vehicle determines if it is a beater, not its price. Case in point... I just paid 2750 dollars for a perfect anniversary addition FZJ80 with 120,000 miles on the odometer. Perfect except that it needs a front bumper and a passenger side fender. No other flaws whatsoever. I have a fender and I will put in an ARB on the front. A little bit of paint for the fender and it will be the nicest 80 I have ever owned. One of the nicest I have ever seen.

Why would I treat this rig is a beater, regardless of the money that I paid for it? I doubt it will ever see serious off road use. (Although it will get upgraded with a pair of Elockers that I have sitting on the shelf for winter road use or the rare light duty trail ride it might see.)

No matter how much additional money I might put into it and how hard I was willing to flog it down the trail, it could never keep up with the trail ready rigs that I already own. Plus keeping this rig nicer allows me to shift the usage of my already lifted locked and scratched FZJ to more trail and less road time. ;-)

Just because I got it for a steal of a deal is no reason to beat the crap out of it and then throw it away.

I have seen people get fixated on what the rig could be and lose sight of what it is when they purchase it... they wind up spending for more money on it than can possibly be justified for the end result. If that is what you are warning against, then I am in total agreement.

Came home from the station this morning and had a baby car seat box in the living room and a white envelope on the bar. Seems like my console (complete with hazard switch for CDL) and my seat gears from Gamivit both came in yesterday. Kids have v ball tournament so won't get to play till later today.
