Replace or Refurbish Fuel Injectors

I could use some help on this. I have a bad fuel injector on cylinder 3(misfire). So I am embarking on pulling the throttle body and upper intake today so I can get to and remove the fuel rail. Any recommendations on replacement?

OEM Toyota Injectors are over $1200 for all 6
Aftermarket option recommendations?
Send them out to be refurbished? Any vendor suggestions?

I already have a new fuel filter that I had previously purchased from Toyota, going to put that in while I am doing this. Also probably going to replace the pesky heater hose pipe assembly and throttle body coolant hose too. The PHH is corroded on the top where the hose connects and the throttle body hose it pretty worn too.

I have used a guy who "refurbishes" injectors a couple of times. You can buy refurbished ones outright or you can send him yours as cores. Or send them in after the fact for a "core refund"

The price is right and I have been 100% satisfied so far (Both those sets have been in use for extended time now.)

Okay... I am admitting defeat. I am coming up dry when I try to drill down in my brain and remember who it was I got the injectors from. It has been several years now and I guess the cobwebs are thick in there.

It might have been a larger operation than I was remembering at first. I just don't know right now.

I *may* have some paperwork somewhere... I KNOW the cobwebs will be thick there.

FWIW however, I do know that there are several reputable places that will take your injectors via the mail and get them back to you in like new condition quickly and for reasonable prices ( A LOT cheaper than brand new).

Did mine during Covid with good results. Like the refurbished because you get the before and after performance results. Buy extra plastic clips. They will break. Plenty of threads with PNs and additional info on this.

Landtank has a set of OE and performance 4 hole injector kit for a fraction of OE new ones I don’t know the details nor have tried them myself but if he’s selling them I’d put money on they’re on the level.

I have the injectors in stock and have found a supplier for the grey and brown plug housings. Those housings are notorious for breaking at this age.

Once I receive them they will be included with the injectors at no extra cost.

Has the injector been verified as bad?
Not just a burnt injector wire in the engine wiring harness?
Very common around the EGR valve

no ohms measured on injector 3 where the misfire was. all other injectors measured 13-14 like they should.

can you please dm me about this? lets do business i have a couple of connectors on my harness that are missing the locking clips. they must have been broken off by the previous owner, so i am going to need a few of them.

Im am really tempted to just remove the lower intake at this point to do the pesky heater hose and trottle body coolant hose. Thoughts on this? I feel like it will be way less ‘pesky’ if i just take the lower intake off at this point wont be as hard as trying to do the phh w it on?

It’s far less pesky with the rear heater hose delete. 100% less pesky with the lower intake removed… but then you have to remove the lower intake. Everything on a 80 is a can of worms.

Has ultrasonic cleaner, testing modes, you can see them operate at different speeds and measure volumes.
And most certainly check wires and replace connector housings. Then sell the machine if you really think you won't do this again on another cruiser.
